Congratulations to two great ballplayers from my childhood era to teenage years. Both deserved their election into the Hall of Fame yesterday. As a Baltimore native, I'm just glad I got to watch many Ripken games at both Memorial Stadium and Camden Yards. Nice to see the good side, not only of baseball, but of sports with all the negative junk going on.

Absolutely, Ripken and Gwynn are two of the premier gentlemen ballplayers of my generation as I grew up. I loved watching either of them play, it was like watching videos of how to play baseball the right way.

I would also like to express my appreciation to T.Gwynn and Cal Ripken.
For me growing up as a Padres fan I got to see Gwynn play on a regular basis and man was he good. I always felt that something good was going to happen each and everytime he stepped up to the plate. He was my childhood hero.
I didn't get to see much of Ripken's play but i know he was a very reliable player and played all out every single play.
Above average play consistently is why these two players are in the HOF today. They deserve it when not many do from their generation.

What's funny is that on their worst days, they played above average. If neither could get it done with the bat on a given day, they would get it done with their glove and arm instead. I personally have never seen either Ripken or Gwynn play poorly in a baseball game.
