I know there are people that use Kazaa, Limewire among other downloading services, are there any of you that buy digital downloads on iTunes, or anywhere else? Three years ago, I used to punch in the Pepsi caps to get free downloads from iTunes, and once they began selling the "gift cards," I had began to actually activate my account, and now I digitally download from the iTunes Store quite frequently.

Im using Frostwire right now..and for movies I use Ares. Not to mention the torrentreactor.net site too for good torrents. But why pay for downloading music when we have the free programs such as frostwire, limewire, kazaa etc.etc.? I know its "the right thing to do" but if the artists ACTUALLY cared about the music then they wouldnt give a shit about people downloading there stuff for free. It should be about getting there music heard by as much people as possible not about the money. I still buy the occasional CD though..to support my favorite bands not to mention the indie scene but for the most part I download almost all of my music that is on my iPOD.

I buy CDs in the store just because I'm an old fashioned kind of guy. I download a song or two off of the internet through Limewire or Morpheus, but if I really like something I will pay the money for a CD.

I can't rationalize the whole music should be free idea some folks have. How would people afford to be a professional musician without being able to make a living off of their work?

In other words... if fans ACTUALLY cared about the music then they wouldn't give a poop about paying for the music rather than pirating it. The only way the up and coming guys on the indie labels will be able to make music will be through the paid support of their music. Otherwise its back to the fry station at the local McDonald's for them when its time to pay the rent! [Laugh]

Ha ledaemon! You make a good valid point there. I never said the artists SHOULDNT make a living,I just dont understand why some artists insist on NO DOWNLOADING!*cough Metallica *cough....if only there was a way to have the artists come up with a way to release their cd's on a MP3 format...that way there would be no fear of getting one of there songs leaked...only way you could get the song is to buy the whole cd...just a thought.

I pretty much buy all my music. I really like having a physical copy of the music and the album artwork. I also agree with ledaemon that if fans really cared about the music, they would care if the had to pay for it.

more important than anything is quality sound.I've found that a fairshare of mp3s have a low sound quality compared to an acual cd,shit some sound like cassettes, low sounds become non exsistant, drum snares get shitty, etc.don't get me wrong,I love my ipod, but in order to fully enjoy an album, you should lisen to the acual cd and have a decent system.ever hear a 5.1 audio mix, audio dvd, sacd, etc? nothing touches those and no mp3 could ever replace that.
anyways as for downloading,I do a mix.advanced promos, out of prints, bootleggs, etc I download with ease.sometimes I dl to check out new music, and if its good I buy it.I use torrents, messageboards, etc to get that.itunes is decent for when you want a cd asap when its hard to find lol,not to mention their system produces better sounding mp3s.but mainly I buy cds for sound quality purposes.

i buy second hand cd's from ebay. i think its good to recycle! i also buy a lot of punk & rock music from a store in america called interpunk, and i used amazon sometimes (mainly the second hand stores). online shopping is fun though. if i wanna check out a few songs before buying a full album i'll use frostwire

ps. i agree, using downloads like frostwire you dont know what youre getting in terms of compressed sound quality. its nice to havea physical cd with sleeve artwork, the actuall thing. and im a young person in the generation where itunes and mp3's are cool!

you said it there. stealing music is stealing from a band you love. i do buy full price cd's if im really into it. however, there are some multi millionaire artists that don't need the money!

I just got an iPod this weekend, so I think I'm going to steer away from CDs and go totally digital.

I agree with LeDaemon, I support the musicians I like by paying for their music. $.99 per song or $9.99 per CD isn't a bad deal.

$9.99 for a CD? Have you not shopped for music lately? lol try $17.99-21.99 at the last remaining music stores that are open.I agree with the artists since I am one myself, only have certain songs available for download PERIOD, and let the public buy the rest the old fashioned way. There's too many hacks in the music business {that goes for fans too} that ruin the business for the honest hard working musicians that still actually PLAY their instruments, not loop someone elses' music on their computer and sing a couple bars on top of it and sell millions!
