Robert Pattinson looks like he's 30 years old. Unless the producers plan on just pulling a Ralph Macchio, my guess the guy will probably be a relatively unknown actor. I dunno how to feel about this though, does a 10 year old movie franchise really need a reboot already?
Then again, a core part of the Spider-Man mythos is his high school days, and pretty much his whole coming of age as a superhero while balancing growing up in high school. I don't think he actually got to college until the 80s.
Another part of this might be the sheer quality of the recent, and on-going, Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon, which is really the first to depict him as a high school student. Ah well, we'll see what happens whenever anything is actually announced.

I'm a huge fan of the current cartoon;) All these great action sequences and all the Degrassi like high school stuff is pulled of well. As for the casting here are my pics

Anton Yelchin would be lights out as Peter Parker. If she could pull of an American accent, Bonnie Wright (Ginny from the Harry Potter movies) would be a damn good Mary Jane). I definitely say they should go with younger looking actors here.

He didn't opt out. He and Sam Raimi (director) were already signed for the fourth film and then Sony pulled the plug and opted to do a relaunch - which they planned on doing after the fourth film anyhow.

I think it's a little early for a reboot of the series although if I have any real gripe with it so far it's that they cast the wrong guy to be Venom. In order to do the character justice they needed someone big and imposing like Dolph Lundgren or MMA fighter Brock Lesnar.

Whatever the result is, let's hope the new Spidey flick will allow him to crack a few good one-liners while beatin' up baddies. He did that all the time in the comics, but not so much in the Raimi movies.
