I can agree on this to an extent. But I have to make sure I like the woman's feet before I can even consider the potential of being romantic with that person.

I saw that article as well. Some guys are just too shy to look at the girl in the face. Maybe he wants to check out her feet to see if he wants to be in a relationship in the first place! After all, foot guys don't want a girl with nasty feet.

Guys don't think like this. If they are foot guys, they need to see if the woman has the type of feet they like before pursuing some kind of romantic relationship. If they have bad feet, time to move on.

I can see this is partially true. There are some women that I just like their feet. I want to suck their toes and thats it. No relationship.

Dumb article in my opinion. So according to the author, I wonder what their perspective is on what guys who look at breasts and asses want.

Once you build your self confidence more, and start hanging out and socializing in larger circles of friends you will see your 5% is way off.
5%-Are fanatics who visit these forums and are obsessed with feet, demand FJ's, steal shoes to jerk into, you name it and anything else to do with feet.
15%-"Like" feet and wouldn't mind giving their girlfriends foot massages and a kiss on the toes once in awhile. Generally "open" to lite foot touching here and there but could go either way and be satisfied in a relationship if her feet weren't nice.
25%-50%: Aren't "into" feet really, but when a beautiful pair come into view, they will look and admire and think it's just an enhancement of the woman they are attached to. (This is not a fetish guy but an admirer once in awhile and aren't turned "off" by feet).

The first two tiers are considered a fetish. 5% full blown fetish. 15% foot fetish lite. Very few guys "hate" feet. More just think of them as "feet" and are indifferent. Trust me, the club isn't as exclusive as you think it is. Take this site for instance, there are probably 5 times or more lurkers than posters and 10 times that who don't have an account and just browse here once in awhile. It's not all bad news.

I would think that if a guy is looking at a girl's feet in the first place, it's because he's likely into feet and is indeed sizing her up as a viable partner for carnal activities; much in the same way a guy would size up a girl by checking out her breasts or ass. In the example of a foot guy, feet are very much a part of his sex life, so he's evaluating hers.
If the guy is looking at her feet and isn't into feet, then I could see how that'd indicate that he potentially isn't sexually interested in her. Or maybe he is, but is too intimidated by her to make eye contact.
And I agree with you that a full blown foot fetish isn't that common. However, I do think it's the most common fetish of anything that would be considered out of the norm (breasts, ass, genitalia) and that may be why it leads people to think it's more common in general than what it actually is. I also think socializing with like minded people daily, such as on this site, distorts one perception on how common something actually is. Essentially creating a sort of bubble effect.
Guys who simply massage or kiss their girlfriend's or wife's feet, I would agree aren't genuinely into feet and wouldn't be considered as having a foot fetish.

That's your opinion, but the original question or debate was you thought 95% of guys hated or simply didn't like feet at all which is incorrect.
If you're referring to him saying that there has to be sexual arousal for it to be a fetish is an opinion, it's actually a fact. The psychological definition of the word states it results in exactly that.
