We have attempted to upload a custom avatar from an url. From the edit profile page we copy and paste the link into the "Use Custom URL" space and it shows the image we want after selecting "Set URL". However every time we hit "Select This Avatar" it never saves the image to our profile.
What are we doing wrong? Not high enough post count? Image to large, to small, etc?
Any help is appreciated.

It could be one or multiple of many different possibilities. In my experience, the most common problem is the website you're hosting the image on does not allow hot linking.

i believe i found a solution to this problem. use this picture hosting website. it worked for me. upload the photo you wish to use. then use the "direct link" link
