Has anyone any up and close experience with the end result of this?

Sore feet are the bane of every high heel-wearing woman's life. But now doctors have come up with an unlikely solution - collagen fillers.

Doctors say that the number of women opting to have collagen feet fillers has increased five-fold in the last year.

The procedure involves protein being injected into the balls of the feet - it costs £240 for a pair and lasts 2-3 months.

Cosmetic surgeons at the Harley Medical Group say that growing numbers of women are choosing the treatment in the run-up to Christmas.

Dr Nick Milojevic, of the Harley Medical Group, said: 'Patients commonly have pre-Christmas fillers and treatments in the run-up to Christmas, to get them camera-ready for the festive season.

'But this year we have received increased enquiries for foot fillers to pad out the ball of the foot to reduce the pain cause by more vertiginous heels.'

Collagen - a natural protein found in skin tissue - breaks down over time and can be replenished with injections which 'fill out' the skin.

It does not need to be removed or altered once it has been injected, and slight side effects tend to last less than 48 hours.

Liz Dale, the group's director, added: 'Foot fillers have been popular in America, but are only just taking off here, as women realise that non-surgical treatments can help them with more than just their appearance.

'When they put on their shoe, the transformation is immediate and they feel more comfortable and more able to dance or mingle the night away.

'The injections are integral padding and last just the right amount of time for the party season. Though there's nothing to stop women having top-ups to keep the comfort going.'

Heels by designers such as Christian Louboutin are getting higher and leaving women in agony as they pay the price of fashion. Last year, the Italian designer launched 8in stilettos.

And last month it was revealed that Victoria Beckham faces surgery on her feet after her trademark towering heels gave her painful bunions.

Rebecca Calder, 31, PA to the manager of a central London property agency, had dermal fillers injected into the soles of her feet - and said they were the perfect solution.

She said: 'I live in high heels. My job requires me to look smart and when I go out I like to dress up in them, especially as I'm only 5'4.

'I am guilty of over-wearing my favourite shoes and for the last year I've started to get pain in the balls of my feet when on the go. The foot filler treatment has made me a lot more comfortable.

'While I won't be splashing out on this every two to three months, it will be great for the Christmas season - I'm thinking of it as a present to myself.'

The idea of a girl allowing something to be injected into her beautiful feet kinda disturbs me.

I was especially surprised to hear about Victoria Beckham. I know she has a little following among Foot Lovers.
