I posed this question to a web site devoted to strippers and stripping, and I got a very interesting responce from one of the posters. He said that there are two main reasons: 1. Many of the girls don't want to get their soles dirty (Of course, that's something a lot of us would like to see!) 2. A legal issue. Many areas have laws preventing strippers from going totally nude. So when they're still wearing their shoes, technically they're abiding by the law. (OK, what if they wore gloves? )

I've been to places that women will take off their heels, especially when they are doing lap dances.

Hehe, not me. I'd rather them wear main clothes like pants than have 'em wear heels. Stripper heels do nothing for me at all, it's just too slutty. I like bare feet because they give a sense of sweetness and innocence to the girl.

I was at a strip club a while back and when I got a lap dance she took off her shoes. She noticed that I was looking down and I told her I had a thing for feet. She put her feet up on my legs so I can get a good look and she even let me touch them. That was my only experience where they took off their shoes, otherwise they kept them on.

Have had strippers notice me liking their feet and pull the straps on their shoes and rub their feet all over me instead. Bigger tips from me for something other than the normal T&A, so I don't think they minded it. I was told, however, some states have laws about needing to wear footwear for some reason.
As we all know, and the dancers are acutely aware, high-heels flex the calves and the front of the thighs which create the classic "Shapely Leg" (especially the gals that think they have bad legs). Clearly, there is a reluctance to leave these aids (heels) behind.
The more experienced dancer recognizes that men's tastes are varied and will dispense with shoes and know that they still look good (even better, in some eyes) and will use this asset to their advantage, as well.

I agree! Just remembering something. I had a friend who was a stripper (just friends, she was married!). She explained that a lot of them keep their shoes on because they dance better with them on.

From my experiences, most really don't have a problem taking off their shoes if you ask them politely. Most have been around long enough to know that if you ask them to take off their shoes, you're probably into their feet. The majority will look at it as "easy money" because they won't have to do much, other than sit back and enjoy a foot massage and, in some cases, get their toes sucked on and feet licked which, again, personally speaking, most don't mind and it actually feels good to them after a night of dancing for all the other guys in high heels. Some won't though and I've heard reasons which include the following:
1) It's a "health violation", which I think was absurd because I had been to other strip clubs in the same town and the women I asked at the other places had no problems taking off their shoes
2) The girls were not comfortable with "dirty feet" that resulted from the shoes they were wearing.
3) Girls who just didn't get the hint that I liked their feet (Only had this happen a couple of times.).
4) One or two who just flat out refused because they don't like anyone touching their feet.

I talked to a strip club owner in tampa florida and it is a health violation. They must wear their shoes while on stage but for private dances and behind doors she see a lot of them take off their shoes.

On stage I like it better when they have their heels or whatever shoes on. While I had a lapdance I notice some girls had flip flops or other sandals on the side. One girl let me massage her feet, but due to high heels I wonder how many are embarrassed of anything such as stress on the toes or calluses.

When I go to strip clubs I ask the girls before a private dance if I would be able to massage and fondle their feet. Most of the women have let me do this. A few said no because their feet stink. So I just go with the ones that will let me, as long as they are good looking.

Yeah, it didn't make sense to me either.
What made it even more absurd was that one chick who didn't like anyone touching her feet would dance topless and then ask guys if they wanted private dances while she still had her top off, flexing her pectoral muscles in a way that made her boobs jiggle up and down. It seemed like she would be okay with the whole foot touching thing,... until we went for a private dance and I asked about giving her a foot massage. Her response was, "Sorry, but I don't let anyone touch my feet. I don't like having them touched." Needless to say, I never got a private dance from her again!
All in all though, strippers who don't like having their feet touched are pretty rare. I think most of them look at it as a refreshing change from the typical T&A guys.
