i just saw this movie this past weekend. it's an older movie but didnt do well.. and i know why. omg, it was bad. i actually didn't make it past about an hour before i fell asleep but there was one part that we relevant to our board.
cameron diaz is the wife of a couple that receive a box that if they push the button, they will receive $1,000,000 but someone in the world that they dont know will die. btw, it is 1976 so a million is alot. anyway, from the beginning of the movie, she limps around everywhere (although to be honest, i hardly noticed). while she is teaching her class of kids.. around 18 YO but not sure exactly.. one odd kid asks her to show the class her foot. that definitely caught my interest. i mean why would he ask that unless he was a foot guy. she asks why and he said he wanted to know what happened to her foot. she obliges and unzips her boot and peels off her sock.. at this point i am really curious as to whats coming next.. and they close up on her feet........... and there's NO toes except her pinky toe! the rest were amputated when she was 18 due to a medical mishap.
yeah, not the sexiest thing but i thought you guys might get a kick out that scene.

This movie is based off of a short story that is about the length of a page. Knowing that, I knew they'd add a whole bunch of stuff to balloon it to the size of a movie, and that kind of turned me off to seeing it. I'm sure I'll see it someday out of morbid curiosity, but I'm in no rush.
EDIT: I also thought it was odd that it took place in 1976, since the original story didn't specify a time period or setting. But then again, look who it is directed by. The same guy who directed Donnie Darko. I remember him saying ages ago the reason Donnie Darko took place in 1988 is because he was familiar with that time period, plus he knew how teenagers from that time period acted. I'm guessing a similar thought was applied here with his decision to set this movie in the late 70's.
