This was from the Big Idea with Donny Deutsch that aired tonight and is currently on now on CNBC. There is a woman who wear long black gloves not allowing anyone to see her hands - this woman doesn't do ANYTHING with her hands, including not washing dishes, keeping them in pristine condition (she also does feet, too - the hand model had more focus on the show). She models her hands for phone ads, and sometimes gets like $10,000 a day! (she lotions her hands TWENTY times per day) She wouldn't even shake hands with the host Donny Deutsch even though she was wearing gloves. [get this - she did not hold hands with her husband until her wedding night!] She competed over 50,000 pairs of feet [she wouldn't show those at all ] My roomate is probably thinking what the hell am I watching but I don't give a shit lol :grins: This lady also did a Lamisil hands magazine ad, modeling her hands on top of her feet - she did take off one glove eventually, she kept her hand very still and did not move her fingers at all (i didn't get that)
This lady sleeps with her feet elevated, puts plastic bags on her socks and wears lotion
"i have beautiful hands and know what to do with them" - the hand/foot model
Donny Deutsch asked to see her feet, but no she said she won't show them until the second date lol. So we got to see one of the hands, but unfortunately no feet - they showed her heels close-up right to the camera, it would have been a STELLAR shot if they had been shown.
"every freak in America is gonna be writing in" - Donny Deutsch
*but all in all, I found this very interesting and felt compelled to write in.

With the way she kept her hands I assumed she was one of those "germophobes," and when she took off her glove she kept her hand still like it was a mannequin's hand! I agree RPM, and that's another excellent point - those heels are gonna be bad for her - if anything she should model flats since they're also hot right now among the ladies.

Yeah, I don't quite understand the wearing of the gloves on her hands. I don't think it's to lessen the chance of getting blemishes. I mean, if she cracks her hand up against something, it's going to hurt and, more than likely, eventually leave a mark regardless of whether or not she's wearing gloves. I can see not doing menial tasks like the dishes, etc.. Obviously, if she's getting as much as $10,000 for a photo shoot with her hands, she should take care of them and not risk losing a career over something so stupid.
Her wearing high heels as a foot model is probably a really bad move on her part. I remember seeing a foot model on Donahue years ago. That foot model also talked about wrapping her feet up in plastic bags around her socks as she slept and kept as much time as possible elevated when she wasn't walking or standing. She also mentioned not owning one pair of high heels and always walked around in either sneakers or loose fitting shoes. Keeping elevated makes sense, as she wouldn't want to let the blood constantly going down to her feet, as this might tend to allow more blood flow downward and create veins showing on the tops of her feet. The same would go for standing too long. It would seem to me that wearing any kind of high heels would be the sure death of a career as a foot model. But, if she primarily models her hands, then I could see why she may not take care of her feet quite as much as her hands.

all of this.. it's diva behavior.. someone making a whole bit about little. wearing heels isn't what's going to mess up your feet. abusive wearing is going to mess you up!!!
covering your feet in socks plus plastic bags to keep moisture in.. is not all that practical.. why.. because your feet do need to breath. the elevation prevents swelling.. and that is good.
i'm just saying.. singers wear scarfs to keep their throats warm.. not to keep them moist! but i've seen diva singers who wear the scarf to keep their throat moist.. that is over the top and not scientific.
so.. the foot and hand models tend to go over board because they model only one part of them and rely heavily on it.. but Tina Turner with the million dollar legs didn't go overboard that much.. just got them insured (that was her diva thing)
at any rate... it's her life.. her choice.. i just think it's way overboard!
