We fairly regularly discuss where we think footwear and foot-showing will go in the future, a topic I rumenated upon during my morning bike ride today.

I've been so excited to see that, in Florida (where I live) that flip-flops and sandals have become the de facto footwear nearly year around. But since coming to Northern Virginia for the summer I've been even more excited to see that sandals and flip-flops have become so prevalent this spring, even when the weather's been cold. It means either they're becoming the thing to wear year around here also, or at least as soon as the calendar says spring girls and ladies are wearing them, regardless of the temperature.

And we all know that fashion changes...so were does it go from here? Though there's always the risk of someone trying to market a more closed shoe (15 or so years ago the hurrache became popular and I hated it with a passion because it only gave you the merest glimpse of their foot or toes.)

I think the future will be bright for us footguys. Other than some obvious, practical health and safety concerns I'm thinking that the fad/fashion stands a great chance of going even barer: thongless flip-flops, footlets, or even going totally barefoot. [Big Grin]

You don't think that, with more guys having foot fetishes would it cause women to conceal their toes? Recently in the New York Times, I saw one of those future-fashion models sporting shoes that covered her big and second toes.

i would love to see super absorbant insoles of shoes... (mmmmmmmmmmm heavenly for toe prints)

and a development of material that allows for the sweat glands to really come alive and bust that funky scent! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
