I'm trying to write a paper for one of my art history courses and came across a work of art of which we can relate to the artistic intent. It's a rather gnarly representation of a toe, a male toe infact. The cool thing is that the reason it is considered art is because of the artistic intent [which is what Modernism is] he is trying to get across that the big toe is the "most human" part of the body and what he means is that out of all of the body parts we have from evolution of the ape, the big toe is the most different from the body of the ape. Seems as if he, too, is fighting like some of are for having more attention to the feet. The artist is Jacques-André Boiffard and the work is called Big Toe, Male Subject.

It was a photograph image that was exposed on a photographic plate the old-fashioned way. You're not missing much aesthetically lol, as i said above its the artistic idea that helps make this art. Sort of like anyone familiar with Marcel DuChamp. He took a fountain out of a bathroom and it went into a gallery. The fact that it was inside a gallery allowed it to have artistic status. It was also the idea behind it that made it art.
