We now seperate the women from the girls! And I must admit that a few of my favorites have now dropped off. Oh well. Here are the new matches: The Classics -- Rita Hayworth vs. Bette Davis
The 50s -- Marilyne Monroe vs. Audrey Hepburn
The 60s -- Kennedy vs. Ann Margaret
The 70s -- Sally Field vs. Linda Ronstadt
We are continuing with the double-elinination format. This week, each group will have one match. That match will have the winner of last week's Elimination Match against the loser of last week's Qualifying Match. Each of these girls have lost once up to this point. The winner of each match will advance into the second round as the runner-up of her group with a 2-1 record. The loser is eliminated for having lost a second time.
Let the games begin!

This contest is too good to have Monroe eliminated in the first round. I can pretty much guarantee that Marylin is going to win this match. It's just a shame that Audrey is the one to run into her.
I also don't see Rita Hayworth exiting this early.
So far, that Greta Garbo lady is the sneaky one in this contest. No one has really paid much attention to her throughout this contest. The fact that she's already in the second round, AND taking this week off, should open some eyes. I feel that people are sleeping on her and if they don't pay attention, she will be going far in this tournament before people come to realize it.

For a collective admiration of what these lovlies and icons of the past have meant for the inspirations to those who grace present day fame like Kate Beckinsale, Scarlett Johansson, and Eva Mendes (among others), here are some lookbacks that feature just some of the ladies in this contest.
These clips are in attempt to help people relive or to get a better grasp of how times were different generations that have so long past us. These are petitions to help the voters get a sense of how these women were hot commodities way back when and how some of today's famous faces want to emulate them in order to help keep their graces and legacies alive through the infinite ages of time.

Other than the third clip, each footage has nothing to do with foot fetish. They are there to help appreciate and pay homage to the craft and love they shared for the entire world to immortalize over.
Raquel Welch in Lady in Cement (I love the music playing in the first 55 seconds into the clip. Then comes an image that makes the older generation grateful that they lived during the times to see these women when they were at their peaks) -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrzWbaf4wHk

I always loved you choice of words when describing what's happening in your celeb contests. It's words like the ones that I just quoted from you that brings these girls back to life. Megan Fox is good for you.
Anyway, it was great to see these clips. The one with Bette Davis is something I will more time to devote to because there are more parts to that movie. I'll have a martini while I'll sit there and watch.
But that Raquel clip was "WOW". If I were a detecitve, I'll lose my tracks for a second was well. I LOVED the question she asked at 1:30 into the clip. These women know how to desenstize my mind.
In that Sophia Loren clip was a nice touch to what this contest celebrates. There was a comment left by someone that made me laugh real hard: He didn't fall asleep, he had a heart-attack!
If I went back in time when they were at their hottest and someone like Raquel Welch removed her nylons like that for me, I will have to take another sip of my martini to try to keep cool and collected.
And that Audrey Hepburn clip was CLASSIC. That clip should never be earased from YouTube. I never saw the movie but after seeing that clip, I will see what I can do to watch it.
Thanks, National and Dougiezerts. It's great to have these women back at our attention.

It's amazing how something can change over the course of a few weeks. One of the matches that was set in the first week of this contest was Rita Hayworth vs. Bette Davis. That time, Rita won. Then they faced each other again, only this time it was to determine who will advance into the second round and join Greta Garbo to represent the Golden Era of Hollywood. Again, Rita Hayworth won. Bette Davis came a lot closer to winning this time than she did when the contest started.
Audrey Hepburn vs. Marylin Monroe was another rematch. Both times, Monroe made the match look easy.
Linda Ronstadt vs. Sally Field was a different story. Back when the contest started, Sally won. This time, Ronstadt got even. Only this time, this match was even more important because now Linda will settle in the second round while Sally will have to sit out the rest of the contest.
The list of the eight women who will advance into the second round (in alphabetical order):
Ann Margaret Bettie Page Farrah Fawcett Greta Garbo Linda Ronstadt Marylin Monroe Raquel Welch Rita Hayworth
We've already tested the field when we started out with sixteen women. Now things get very, VERY interesting because now it means business. Whenever the field is cut in half, the stakes double in what each win will be worth.

Round 2 starts this coming tuesday, when the matches get tougher, and the choices to make not any easier.
