Here we go again! Thanks to all of you who responded to the last poll.
We are down to four girls. The Double-Elimination, round robin format that we've used in the last two rounds will now be thrown out of the window. We're through with that.

These women will no longer be separated into any groups. In the Semi's, based on Round 2s performance, the winner of one group will face the runner-up of the opposite group. The woman with the most votes by the end of the voting period will win her match. The winner of each match will then face each other in The Ceremonies (The Finals) to finally decide who the champion will be.
Once again, I was really surprised about Greta Garbo's staying power!

Yeah, Welch is still alive out of the women who remain. The semi finals are always interesting to watch. It features the greatest matches.

So this is it, huh? The winners of each match goes to the Ceremonies to face each other. That rule change made things that much more competitive and nerve-wrecking. I thought we were still under that round robin format you used in the last two rounds. But this change is necessary because this will get us straight to the point without having these four women face all of the others.

I don't know who will go to the finals. These two matches are that good.

Four Sex Symbols remain. Two of them were personifying figures who started this contest as representatives of the 1950s. They are Monroe and Bettie Page. The third lady was huge in the 1960s in the form of Raquel Welch, while the last one was the icon of the 70s. That being Farrah Fawcett.

None of the ladies who started this contest as representatives from the years before 1950 are in the semi finals to really make a strong case as to how influential they became to serve as the stepping stones for starlets of the future generations. Greta Garbo was the Golden Era's last hope to advance into the semis. But Greta's last glimmer of hope dimmed by Bettie Page in the last round.

----

Now the symbols most synonymous with vintage pristine are now meeting each other for the first time Ever. A meeting like this calls for the world to come to a standstill.

Monroe vs. Welch, Farrah vs. Page is now something we will have to debate for the first time in the history of this forum. How does one settle with the dilemma of trying to referee with the emotions he feels when he tries to make these choices?

These for women, each, one win away from making an appearance at The Ceremonies (the Finals) where everything will be settled.

Dougiezerts seems to be still in shock that Greta Garbo was able to last for as long as she did. Let me ask, Dougie: Why? Why were you surprised that she was able to get very close into making the semis? I would like to know what your thinking was behind that thought since you were the one who thought she would be good enough to be in this contest. I always felt that quite a number of people would take her for granted precisely because of the era she lived in. Had she been more popular in the 60s, young and in her prime, she could be in this round as we speak. I think the era she lived in finally became her Achilles Heel. I think that era is what kept the other girls in that group out of the running for a championship.

There could've been a part of her appeal that kept Greta in the game. I don't how much you read the comments from last week's contest, but I think National summed it up better anyone. It was as if he was there, himself, to see Greta act in person and live her life with her. Here's what he said last wee:

Why are we mesmerized just watching her on the screen - not just in the emotional or poignant scenes - but doing anything - slowly raising her eyes to look into the camera - glancing to the side in a haughty manner - looking lovingly into her leading man's eyes? Why do we think so highly of some of her movies when we know it is a mediocre story and would no doubt be forgotten had anyone else been in the lead? Why is her beauty unique and appealing? Why is it that she can be photographed from any angle, with any expression, with any style of dress or hair - and her beauty is no less remarkable? Why are photographs of her so much more than just a picture - they are more akin to works of art -- too other-worldly to be real?

To watch her face is like contemplating a masterwork - it becomes an experience that strikes both the heart and mind.

I know this is a foot contest, but the feature that has by far received the most attention when people talk about her is her eyes. They are haunting, sad, quizzical, languorous, melancholy, and omniscient. Her eyes were blue, but more accurately described by many others as an "unforgettable blue" indicating the uniqueness that belongs to every aspect about Garbo.

Garbo was an anomaly, not a mystery. She as something to be experienced rather than adored, but people did both.

I would have more to say about the remaining women, but before I do that, I would like to know why Greta surprised him with how well she did?

Well, simply because she's part of an older, more "innocent" time. And also because not a whole lot of barefoot photos exist of her. The fact that she's beautiful goes without saying!

The most on-point thing ever said. I'm pretty sure that for some voters one or two of the matches were easy choices, but for others (like myself), my emotions related exactly to what I quoted out of National.

These two matches are special.

Thanks for saying those things. I'm glad my words have become something worth looking forward to when it comes to the National Femme Fashionistas. This is a contest I take with a lot of pride and love putting together and I want to express how great these matches are in ways that are meant to excite people and have them wonder what's going to happen next.

----

One note worth mentioning:

Dougiezerts forgot to set up the poll in a way that tells people when the polls close. So I have to tell people when this week's matches will be shut down. Originally, I wanted the polls to close an hour and fifty minutes ago. Since I did not tell anyone about this earlier this week, I will allow for more people to vote in these two matches. I will not accept anymore votes after an hour and ten minutes from now. When the time limit is up, the girl in each match with the most votes will face each other in The Ceremonies.

It looks like we have the match set, but a few more voters can swing the match in the other direction. We'll see.
