This article appeared today in one of the major news hubs. Prison would be the least of this guy's worries if I got a hold of him!!!!! What do you out there ion cyber land think about this?
An Arkansas man identified as the "Toe Suck Fairy" was arrested Monday (Sept. 26) following a series of incidents in which he allegedly approached women in stores, commented on their feet and asked to suck their toes. According to Reuters, the culprit, Michael Robert Wyatt, 50, previously served a prison sentence for similar shenanigans. Last time, he even pretended to be a podiatrist in order to fondle and suck a woman's toes at a clothing store.
Though criminal cases are rare, foot fetishism itself is surprisingly common. Academic studies on the prevalence and membership of fetish discussion groups have found that feet and foot accessories are the most fetishized of all non-genital body parts and objects. Nearly half of all such fetishes focus on feet, and almost two-thirds of fetishes for objects associated with the body are for shoes and socks. [Can Brain Scans Read People's Minds?]
Sigmund Freud claimed that people sexualize feet because they resemble penises. Today, a more scientific theory comes from the neuroscientist Vilanayar Ramachandran, director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at the University of California, San Diego.
Ramachandran said he solved the mystery of foot fetishes while studying the brain malfunctions that lead to phantom limb syndrome, a condition where amputees feel as if their missing limbs are still attached to their bodies, and that they can move those limbs. He found that the syndrome resulted when a person's "body image map" — the brain's map of the body, in which different body parts are associated with and controlled by different brain regions — failed to erase the part of the map that corresponded to the amputated limb.
In the case of some phantom foot patients, Ramachandran found that the amputees' brains didn't just fail to erase the missing foot from their body image map, they accidentally rewired the map in a way that caused the person's phantom foot to become sexy. Phantom foot patients reported feeling sexual pleasure, and even orgasms, in their missing feet.
Long before Ramachandran began his work on phantom limb syndrome, it had been noted that the brain areas associated with genitalia and feet are adjacent to each other in the brain's body image map. But no one else had put 2 and 2 together and realized that foot fetishes could possibly result from cross-wiring in the brain between the foot and the genital parts.
As Ramachandran wrote in "Phantoms in the Brain: Probing the Mysteries of the Human Mind" (Harper, 1999): "Maybe even many of us so-called normal people have a bit of cross-wiring, which would explain why we like to have our toes sucked."

Sorry, but I'm not buying Ramachandran's connecting the fetish with phantom limb syndrome. I can buy fetishism as a product of "wiring," in the same way some people are wired to like Impressionist art and some prefer Abstract or Dada art. I find his assertion too complicated and inelegant.
But I'm a nurture-over-nature guy, and I think (early) experience is more likely to shape a fetish than brain chemistry.
Maybe one of you perverts is a neurochemist and can edumacate me. Perhaps we need to write an NIH grant to all get MRIs while we talk about feet, suck on toes and take pics of pretty girls' soles. Then we could see which sections of our brains fire the most mEvs and make up all kind of jackoff hypotheses about how feet are in the lower left helix of our DNA or some shit.

Whoa whoa whoa, hold the fucking phone, are you telling me that this guy was arrested for ASKING to suck toes? Now I understand getting arrested for impersonating a doctor to suck toes and we can all agree that this man could certainly use a lil tact, but in what backwards assed bazaaro fucking world is it illegal to ASK to suck toes? Ok so we don't know all the details so perhaps he was really persistent and wouldn't leave the girl alone and that would be harassment. But otherwise what was his crime other than being a jackass for making us look bad? Maybe cuz it was at a store? I'm just curious as to what he's being charged with. I mean, I've asked women to smell their feet before, sucessfully too, granted I didn't come right out and say "lemme smell those feet" but I've complimented women on their feet and if they seemed genuinely happy to receive the compliment I'll make polite conversation and let it be known that I like feet and then politely ask if I may smell their feet, it works almost all the time. Now let me clarify, most women politely say thank you or laugh and say 'oookaaay, thank you I guess' but when I get a reaction that is very positive I instantly know they've had some experience with foot fetish or have had a bf in the past who was into feet. U can tell them easily, cuz they are happy for the compliment and are completely non judgemental. Then I have a 'real' conversation with them, not just some creepy bs to try to get their feet but get to know them a bit. My liking of feet is defined as follows>> because women are beautiful,because most women like painting their toes, getting pedicures, pay attention to their feet, wear pretty shoes,sandals,and wear foot jewelry to call attention to their feet, simply i think us men who like pretty feet like them because we are fucking smart and pay attention to that special part of a woman's body that all the dummies miss out on.

The phantom limb thing in the OP is making me have trouble understanding. That makes sense, since I think also that foot fetishism can be attained all the way back when you're in the womb.

There has to be way more to this story, because I saw this article the other day from another news source. He also said something like he wanted to cut off a woman's feet and then suck her toes as she bled to death. Yep, that will get you jail time. If he didn't ask and he just went up to women and started to suck on toes in public, yep that may do it also.

I gotta admit, at first I thought the doctor was on to something...and then when he started obsessing with this fantom limb...he lost me on that.
The cross-wiring I could maybe buy...but what about the 'old' research that said back when we were all cavemen, the feet & armpits releases pheromes and since we were more olefactory(?) back then, arrousal of the opposite sex was obtained by picking up on those odors.
