My wife is dumping a lot of old magazines and I found an article in a July, 2005 issue of Vogue magazine. There was a quote by a pedicurist named Bastien Gonzales who said, "It is much more elegant to have naked nails. Bare, Polish-free toenails is the latest trend in foot fashion." Tis guy apparently does the nails of "The Rich and Famous!"

I like them both ways (painted and naked) but I know many of you guys want polish only. Any of you noticing the trend?

Don´t know if there´s a trend now but personaly i have been practicing the polish free nails "fashion". I like the look and it´s more healthy.

Thankfully I haven't noticed it becoming a trend or anything like that and with a little luck I never will. Polish-free toenails are definitely not my cup of tea since vibrant nailpolish colors account for a monumental part of my comprehensive foot fetish. Bastien Gonzales may find naked nails to be elegant, but I personally find them completely devoid of sex appeal.

Though I do like feet without polish and would never turn down a pair if they didn't have polish on them, I do have a preference for polished toenails. I like seeing all those vibrant colors on women's toes as well. Hopefully, this "fashion trend" won't catch on among anyone besides the "rich and famous".

There are no absolutes since this whole thing is as subjective as it is, but I'd say that nailpolish is a tool which can sometimes be absolutely crucial to the perceived degree of sex appeal that a woman's feet may elicit. The vibrant colors of nailpolish that I'm attracted to operate on as much of a psychological level for me as they do on a physical one. I admit that an incredibly shapely pair of feet with exquisite nail beds in immaculate condition may not necessarily need nailpolish in order to satisfy my visual cravings on a sexual level, but I've no doubt in my mind that adding nailpolish to those same feet would amplify my interest far beyond. Similarly, a gal with less than stellar feet can often use nailpolish as a means of making her feet far more appealing than they otherwise would have been. We've so often seen gals both in the celebrity world & elsewhere whose feet have been "saved" by the presence of nailpolish in particular photos or on particular occasions. Some folks out there prefer natural nails and I say more power to them. For me though, nailpolish makes for a win-win situation all around.

I can live with it once in a while, but as a general rule, I refuse to date woman who never polishes her toenails. Therefore, I hope the polish-free look does not become a trend.

I agree, though most of the time I would express a strong preference for polished toes- a beautiful foot (sans polished toes) is a beautiful foot. The nail polish is an addition that just makes their feet and toes REALLY catch our attention. I tend to accept and not be put off by non-polished toes on darkly tanned caucasians or dark skinned gals (like Latinos). To me, their dark skin or tan helps "bring out" even plain, non-polished toes.

I usually like to see polish although as said by above people certain feet can still look very pretty to me unpolished.

But I do find this so-called trend of a no-polish fashion change quite scary if it is really happening! [Eek!]

I guess I am a black sheep because I never liked nail polish. I prefer my girls with no nail polish I find it much sexier. Just like I never got tunred on by ankle braclets.

Toes with no nail polish?? I am not too keen on it the idea, but I am aware of the health reason and all. I personally prefer colored polish on nails because it just enhances the look of toes and WOWs the whole foot. For no polish toes to look attractive to me all depends on the nail beds... unappealing nail beds equal no second look glances from me. I like polish on nails. [Thumbs Up]

I think the no-polish look can be great, Jessica Alba seems to be doing that a lot lately.. Even better though is the satin-finish clear polish.. Love it, love it, love it!

Well.... let's throw my homophobia into this whole mix. I figure that polished toes make feet look more feminine. Since both men and women have feet, unlike breasts which are or should be distinctly a female characteristic and guys(as a general rule) don't polish their toes. Just my twisted two cents worth... ned

honestly i prefer to see them w/o nail polish. something more natural about it, i kinda get turned off when a girl dolls herself up too much. when i see a normal chick walking around in flip flops with an anklet on and no polish oblivious to how sexy that looks....to me thats hotter than when a girl gets a pedicure and tries to look sexy.

Polish for me, however once in a great while the wife will indulge me with the no polish look. Very clean nails and well trimmed with no polish every once in awhile is okay to be. Sometimes I just get in that no polish mood. As for other women. If her feet are sexy well they are just sexy to me. Polish or not...

i do wear alot of nailpolish but sometimes its a good idea to let the nails breathe.ive always liked buying hemp toerings and anklets for a sexy hippie look to go along with the natural nails.ive also added a few small flower decals you can buy aat sallys to place on the big toenail and add to the look.i think its sexy and a nice change from the polish look

I dunno, man... I prefer polish under any circumstance, but a shiny clear coat with french tips are gorgeous as well.
In my opinion, a woman who takes the naked toenail route would have to have the kind of feet that men would be willing to die and/or kill for. Smooth, delicate, tanned skin; thick, even full toenails, along with a nice clear coat.

It tool Kelley/DragonLily to make me see that unpainted (or clearly laquered) nails could be even more appealing than painted nails on some feet. Fancy and Evelisse (of Feet Fair) also look great with "au naturale" toes.
