I've not posted a poll here before and don't know if this question has come up in the recent memory.
Which do you prefer, long toe nails or short toe nails. I thought I didn't care, but find that I prefer shorter toenails than longer ones. but the same doens't apply for finger nails.
In your comments(for those who want) share what kind of color you like with the length of your choice. also, does that relate to finger nails..
I like short red toenails... but I prefer medium lenght (not too long so it looks useless) french manicured finger nails.

When it comes to toenails & fingernails being long or short, for me it's not so much a question of length as it is a question of fullness. What I mean is that my preference lies with large, full nail beds as they generally appear healthier and more substantial to me. When I use words like "large & full" in this capacity though, some people occasionally misinterpret that to mean that I like long nails, which isn't really the case. I wouldn't want a gal's nails to be either excessively short or excessively long, as both are something of a turn-off for me. Somewhere in the middle would do the trick, but the large & full nail beds really are the key to attractive nails for me. My general rule of thumb with regard to nail length is that a gal's nails should be full enough to extend to the very tips of her toes & fingers, but not extend beyond them.
As for color, I've always been pretty outspoken about my nailpolish preferences. Anything that's lively, vibrant, and wild is bound to be a favorite of mine, with the #1 slot on my list going to hot neon pink. Other top contenders in my favorites book are dark metallic blue, metallic & classic red, bright orange, purple, gold, silver, and on and on. The only polish colors that I outright hate are any variants of white or cream, with my all-time least favorite being french manicure/pedicure.

CJ IS THE MAN i swear, im so happy i dont have to explain that whole theory again! so dead on. a girl could grow her toenails long as hell but if her toenail bed is naturally small, it still looks nasty to me. As far as length regardless of nail bed fullness, i like them slightly past the tip of the toe. i NEVER like seeing any space between the tip of the toenail and the tip of the toe, thats a step away from disgusting to me.
My favorite color style is french pedicure and red. i also have a thing for any dark colored toenails, black, brown, maroon, etc.

CJ, never really took the time to look at fullness.
to me, the cute factor is that the nailbed is not too small with respect to the toes and the toenail isn't realy long. i don't like it so short hat there is a lot of 'meat' between the end of the toenail and the tip of the toe.
you did a swell job explaining it! as for color, it's cool we don't agree 100% but i'm with you on the white nail polish or varients of it!!! the french pedicure.. the white part has to be rather 'small' in proportion for it to work. and on the hands.. can't be close to or more than half the nail volume.

I like shorter toenails just because I think it looks beter when the toes are painted. Finger nails however, I like to be a little longer. Just think it looks better.

I like the nails to be well maintained more than anything. Neatly trimmed and not looking like deadly talons for me. However I would like to add that they should never be cut too short. I've seen 'em before where someone gets carried away with the clippers and before they know it most of the nail is clipped off right to the cuticle. Blech!

as much as i love em really short, i like the fantasy of being able to scrap the sweat from the toe nails. I know it sounds so dirty and rank, its just a weird fantasy

I don't think anyone should ever grow their toenails way long. A little past the toe, and I'm fine, but if they look like claws, then that's a major turnoff. But I agree there with CJ, the nail bed is the real important part, and I for one, like a fuller nail bed than anything.

Personally I prefer a girl to have short toenails. Long ones can be nice as long as they're well maintained though.

I like medium to almost long length toenails with a french pedicure, otherwise keeping them short to medium is fine. And a short to medium length for fingernails for any nailpolish works.

Has anybody ever noticed the difference in toenail length when it comes to ethnicity and age of the feet? as a dude whos played with or worshipped almost every different kind of feet there is, ive really noticed that black women (usually of any age, but mostly over 21) tend to keep their toenails longer. On older asian women i mostly see long toenails, but the younger girls keep them a little shorter. Latinas, it can be either way. White women, almost like black women, the older i see it seems the longer there toenails will be. Some white teachers ive had when they would wear open toe heels i was very surprised and seen some nice full long toenails, i wondered if they had a man with a foot fetish at home. But with younger white girls, i noticed they like to go crazy with the clipper someone mentioned before, and they like it like that.
I have a little story to kind of prove my theory a little bit too (i guess, lol). My girlfriend who keeps her toenails kinda long for me since i like them like that, she tried this new nail salon out in the suburbs where most of the population is middle class white. They took her toenails down SOO short, it wasnt even funny. They were so short that afterwards, i didnt even wanna look at them, sad. Where she usually goes, right down the street from her, they seem to do her toenails perfect length without her having to say anything. I was guessing because maybe they automatically did that because it could be the local preference since i know most of the customers there are teenage white girls.
When it comes to black women i've known it seems they also tend to have larger toenail beds in general than other women. Ive noticed this for asian womens fingernails too. I guess all these observations are pointless but its still kinda interesting. This might be why most of the time i can look at a girl's feet without knowing her ethnic background and guess right away. I can tell you the difference between a filipino woman's toes and a chinese girl's toes in a second. haha

what it was.... i've noticed that instead of ethnicity being the determinant, economic status played more a roll... but i'm not an expert here.
to me, the 'wealtheir' the person.. the likelier it the nails were well done, but not trendy and were of 'perfect' length for the individual. the other way on the scale, the decor was more trendy, more elaborate, likelier to have longer nails.
of course, within each subset of grouping each person does their thing!!

^ i completely agree with your last sentence. its never always one clean cut way of course for every woman of a certain age group or ethnic background (that goes for EVERYTHING though, its never all, but just some), but some trends within them are easy to notice. There could be so many more variables that play into it, but im just one of them people that believe that everything happens for a reason and people do things for a reason. i dont know why it interests me so much but i could talk all day about toenails, thats the most important thing to me when it comes to feet, no doubt about it.
fiasco, not being 'smart' or anything at all, but im very curious to know what your observations were (like i said this type of thing really interests me).

Gotta be short toenails - Long toenails just scrape and irritate your mouth when you suck on those toes. As for nail polish, any cool colour will do but my fave is nails which are just long enough to get a nice French pedicure on them. Soo hot & turns me on every time. But although I love pics of toes with polished nails, I don't suck toes if they aren't polishless.

To me the length of the toenails and the toenail bed, especially the big toes is very important!!! The definitiion of "Long" or "Short" is totally relative to one's percetion or interpetation. I can appreciate nice, full toenails that are semi-long. I don't care for short, stubly ones.
ONe thing that aggrivates me is when women cuts their toenails so low, to the point where if it isn't for polish, you wouldn't know her toenails exist.

I voted for shorter toenails and longer fingernails.
In both instances, I don't want them taken to the extreme with either being tremendously short toenails or tremendously long fingernails. I guess when it comes to the toenails, having them around, or just beyond, the end of the toes themselves is the ideal length and I wouldn't want them much beyond that. For fingernails, I don't want them ridiculously long that they look freakish. There are a few women who grow them to the point where they start to curl inward as they grow out. To me, that just looks ridiculous. Fingernails an inch or so past the tips of the fingers is quite sexy though and would be the ideal length for me.
