1. Study hard your first year and get a high GPA because it is a serious bitch to raise your GPA once you start off slow. If you finish your freshman year with 3.5 GPA or better, it is easier to maintain it in your subsequent years.
2. You can have a little more fun your sophmnore year and and enjoy the college experience.
3. Intern between your Summers
4. Really focus on your last two years because the real world is right around the corner.
5. THese are the most important 4 years of your life and can determine your future success. Make these 4 years count. Your GPA stays with you forever.
6. Take advantage of these college years because you will never see this many of the opposite sex of mostly the same age and with the same basic issues (tests, not enough money, classes, ball games, etc.). So meet, greet, and be a party animal. Once you are out of college everything changes big time and becomes so real too fast. Some people take themselves too seriously at times.
7. Enjoy the hotties .
8. Enjoy your ride.

speaking of which, any advice dating-wise for college. i've never had a GF nor went on a date. i'm not a computer junkie who's in his room 24/7 on the computer. i play soccer and do lots of things. i just suck with girls.

Biggest mistake guys make is they unknowingly put a lot of pressure on girls. Don't talk their ear off, don't put them on the spot to make a judgement about you. If they feel like you are coming on too strong they'll decide you're a freak and sail you bull until they can get away.

Just be honest, always say what's on your mind, and don't take yourself or women too seriously. If a girl is interested in you you'll absolutely know! If you can't tell, she's not. If you have issues with confidence just remember if they don't like you then they're probably crazy anyway and you don't want them. There are huge advantages to single and non-single life. It really is all good. You've got to learn how to enjoy both if you want to be happy in either state.

As far as your major, the people that can help you out are professors. Get to know them, stop by their offices, see if any of them have anything interesting to say. It's amazing that no one beats down the door to take advantage of these valuable resources. Most students are content to listen to their equally-as-clueless peers.

If you haven't had any luck with girls, I personally wouldn't try to start right away, now. It's different in high school where grades dont really mean anything as long as you pass, but college is different. Your focus needs to be on your work now. If you spend all of your time chasing girls, the schooling will almost be pointless.

So for right now, take it easy and get the important, real things out of the way first. Just my 2 cents

dont jump off a 14 foot balcony like i did. it'll f*ck up your knee forever. if for some reason you do have to jump from a 14 foot balcony, make sure you dont land square on the ground (like i did). roll to help ease the shock and you should come out of it fine. dont ask why i jumped from a 14 foot balcony

I agree. There's going to be LOTS of distractions, especially from the girls. I'm not saying you can't have a great time (at the appropriate times, but this is the time to work hard and learn as much as you can. Like Salvy Mic, I learned the hard way too. I struggled to finish college because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life, but I eventually got my BA degree.

You are paying thousands of dollars to be at an educational institution. Make the most of it.

If you don't, you should use the money for other things.

As for the girls... you can get away with a LOT more than you think. So try to get away with more.

When I was in school we used to pitch in and buy a bottle of average bourbon or brandy and smoke decent cigars or a pipe in quiet company to entertain ourselves. We also would buy $10 jug wine, grapes, cheese, hard crust bread, etc. and have bigger parties. People would play cards and chess and stuff like that while listening to a new album or stand-up comedy recordings. It was far more entertaining than a kegger and it was a way to try to turn people on to actual real-life social drinking. We had the best parties, and we got popular and we got women, all on a beer-budget (grapes and bread don't cost much). Some of us even met our mates at those gatherings. You can have a lot of fun in college (that you can look back on and not feel stupid about) without compromising your studies in the least. In fact, I think the good times made it easier to do better academically.

I should of elaborated on my earlier post. I am in no way saying to get the girl drunk...thats not cool....or yourself to be drunk...but rather that the girl would be "looser" and therefore improved chances of the girl not making a scene or big deal of it. After reading my post it looked like I was implying for you to take advantage of drunk girls. Thanks for reading it though.
