I was just curious if anyone else at work either gets to go barefoot, or at least works with others that go barefoot?
I work as a Machinist building Mega-Yachts, and we are at the stage right now where a multi-million dollar yacht is reaching the last days of construction. Since the teak decks, birch interiors and other high-end wooden interiors are all completed, this means you work without shoes that would mar it up.
For a machinist, that's pretty strange as most machinists have to wear boots because of the hot chips and shards of steel. Because our boatyard is so big, we work with a lot of woman too. A few of these woman must like to go barefoot because its not unusual to see a few of them going about their trades working barefoot.
I am sure the company rule is carry-over from the yachting world. That is almost always a barefoot world anyway. Around here the stores, restaurants and bars may have signs that say "No shirt, no shoes, no service" for liability reasons, but it is hardly ever enforced. I guess for the next two months, I live in a barefooted community.

I used to work at a University... in the summer days a lot of girls would go to class wearing flip flops, but many of them would go barefoot around the campus, especially on the lawn on their breaks. It nearly killed me!
