looking at some of the women's feet posted here, i suddenly flashed back to a conversation i had with my wife years ago about how she would shape her toenails. i prefer squared ends on her toes and rounded on her hands.. she, of course, prefers it the other way around. being the super awesome fantatsic wife that she is, she actually does them the way that i prefer [Big Grin] awwwwww lol

how about you guys? do you have a preference?

Not only do I prefer them square-trimmed, I've always been told that that is the proper method for avoiding in-grown nails, etc. However, like you, I've noticed that personal preference has a lot to do with it.

never gave it much thought until my wife started asking me to do my hands in a squaredshape cut. i of course shrugged it off like a guy and said who would notice. i've sinced stopped doing it so rounded like (for nail health and her happiness)... and though it's round still, but not as round.

but that is not the point.. i love how she does hers.. though squared, there is a slight hit of roundness to her hands. just love that!

as for her peds. it depends on her mood really. she's not big on maintaining her toenails in any given way either. but since she's due for a pedi from me, i'll give it more thought and see how it goes. if i like the outcome of my work, i'll post a pic

You are correct...toenails should be cut square to avoid ingrowth. I also prefer the square shape...and also slightly longish.

I like the more squared look like my wife's in my avatar.

oh if it were only that simple...

I prefer the square cut. Rounded looks weird to me, and sadly, I see it too many times.

I agree... Square is definitely better and a little length!! [Big Grin]

does anyone have any compare pictures? then i can make an educated decision.

Square. I can do with out the length.

Squarish...with no extra length

rounded

I have found both to be appealing. For me I guess it depends upon other things such as the construction of the rest of the foot. For example, if the ends of the toes are very round the square cut might seem a little out of place; likewise, flatter-ended toes with round nails.

Slight preference for square, largely because I've seen phenomenal rounded nails on girl's feet.

Yeh I'd have to say that I prefer the square look, and with concern to length as long as it isn't way past the end of the toe its good for me.

For the longest time, I was convinced I didn't have a preference. That was until I saw Raven's toenails, up-close & IN PERSON! [Eek!]

It's hip to be SQUARE!! [Thumbs Up]

i really don't care either way. as long as they look good, are done well, and aren't too long. i don't like long toe nails. but that is just me.

yes yes yes Love SQUARE.

Posted by nusuth (Member # 7372) on :

has anyone noticed tho that it seems that the longer they are, the more rounded they are? and as much as i like square ends, if the corners of the nail extend that much beyound the toe, its a turn off for me too.

I don't even care as long as the nails are long.

I like them squared.

I prefer mine square and medium/short length. I used to like my nails longer but now when I see girls with long nails it grosses me out! [Smile]

Square and longish...seems to be the common theme here.

I don't like completely square. I like them a little bit long with a slightly rounded shape.

So a little bit of both in between.

Slight preference for squared. But, as others have mentioned I've seen tons of rounded that I just love.

Square, trimmed. HATE long toenails. HATE, HATE, HATE long, round toenails.
Plus, I read somewhere (wife's Cosmo, on the john probably) that square was the correct way to do it.
