Hey guys! So some of you may remember a bit back I posted a thread, asking for advice. I read that one dude's Craig's List post, and started thinking. As much as I like Barefoot in Public sets, why don't I post an ad on Craig's List, and see if a model would be interested.
I placed the ad, and was as upfront as humanly possible. I wanted whoever responded to know the pix would end up on a foot site, but a non-nude site, etc. I also made it clear I was not a professional photographer and this was my first attempt at this.
When girls would respond, I would answer any questions, offer to meet in a public place first to see if they felt comfortable, etc.
I didn't know what to expect when I placed the ad. But as it turns out, I got quite a few responses. Some would respond and ask if their face needed to be shown, I replied yes, that was a dealbreaker. Some expressed interest then just never replied.
Some responded and included pix of themselves right away. THe ones that expressed the most interest were girls who were actually professional models or aspring to be.
The girl I went with (Alex), who I posted pix of, when she responded and sent her bio and info, I was floored. I told her it would be like amateur hour for her working with me. She laughed and responded she had done foot modeling for a foot web site and was good to go.
She was a great girl, fun, nice, and more than willing to go anywhere and do any pose. I in no way ever expected anything other than pictures, and she told me she'd be willing to do another set again in the future.
Taking pix, I have tons of respect for photographers who do this. I was nervous, and worried about getting good shots, and out in public was making sure we didn't get tossed out anywhere, etc. With all that going on, it was tough to enjoy the fact I was out in public with a hot bareoot girl. LOL It was a bit stressful. Looking back I wish I had enjoyed it more!
But all in all, a great experience. I wanted to try it out, and am glad I did. Would I do it again? Sure. Would I ever try to do it like the pros and have a web site? No. That is a true skill. I was happy being a onetime (or maybe two time) free lance photog!

Hey! Maybe next time I can relax a bit! LOL And oh I want the foot guys to be able to enjoy the pix! The only way I wasn't going to post them was if I took 200 blurry pix or if the girl that showed up didn't look like the girl in the email response! LOL
I want the pix out there. Alex (the model) is so pretty heck she deserves to be known. I don't know what it takes to be "America's Next Top Model" but I think she sure could be.

This reminds me of the first time I met Mommie Dearest. I was INCREDIBLY nervous because she's such an icon around here but she was such a pro and actually sort of made fun of me a little saying "just take the damn picture!" I feel your pain but when you think of it, its not like she's nude. I mean, Its just feet!

i've always wanted to do the same, but was a bit too fearful to place an ad. I've asked friends of mines and they all said as long as faces weren't shown, sure. got a few takers. not many.
it's too nerve-wracking!!!!! the asking part that is. Bruce, you did well!! I bet i'd be nervous askig legends like MD!!! but once past that, i can turn on my professionalism (i've shot thousands of pix before).
Kitten, if you were in my neck of the woods, i'd shoot ya too!

Thanks guys! It was an interesting experience for sure. Kitten, you aren't in my area or I would've taken ya up on that! I am glad I did it, but I was nervous! If I shoot again, maybe I will relax more... I will post more pix

I'm interested to know what her cash pay was for doing that set and how long she modeled for you. Did she mention what foot sites she modeled for in the past?

my question is what section of craigslist did you pist the ad that can also be a deal breaker.
To the guys with no balls and who are scared to ask what's the problem? It's just an ad online it's not against the law or anything to just ASK lol.

Good questions! I meant to go into that. She modeled for Feet of Nashville, so he deserves props for introducing her to the foot scene. And now here is the kicker, she ain’t cheap. I paid her $200 for two hours, and she gave me the full two hours. Probably why I won’t do this on a regular basis! lol

thanks for the info. I know such professional sessions aren't cheap. you get what you pay for though i'll keep the "talent" section in mind whenever i get around to posting an ad on craigs list

I thought even she may charge more based on her resume, but she was great. I got the impression she would have gone longer than two hours and stuck to that $200 rate, but she had to get home to change for her night job.

That's be cool! She was really sweet - I know since I was paying her she wanted to be accomodating, but she was just really genuinely nice.

I know! I was immediately left speechless about how beautiful she was, then I was like, "ok, I have two hours, I need to get X shots, make sure they aren't blurry, are the batteries in the camera going to last, can we shoot here.." next thing I know, boom, the shoot is over! lol
