You do not just run one virus cleaner. No one virus cleaner guarantees you are clean.

You have to go to a website that provides virus removal support. There are a bunch of them.

Here is one I frequently use to clean friend and family computers when they get infected -> Major Geeks

Follow all the instructions to the letter and the expert users will help guide you until you are clean. There is a bit of work you have to do. DO NOT SKIP ANY STEPS.

also.. try putting on a virus protector BEFORE you get infected.. and update it regularly.

OH MAN!!! THIS IS BAD!! EVERYTHING I'M TRYING TO DO(OPENING FILES ETC)TO REMOVE THE VIRUS A BOX JUST CONSTANTLY POPS UP & STOPS ME FROM GETTIN IT.

I did have an anti-virus pro installed but stupid me,uninstalled it 2 days ago because it slowed down the comp like hell.I had to delete things from the comp to free up space but didn't want to delete my pictures i have saved on the comp.
I un-installed the pro & it was back up to speed again.I'm so f**king stupid.I know how important anti-virus pro's are & still uninstalled it but,it was so f**king slow it really pissed me off.I'd be sitting here waiting from 2-5min for a page to load.
Virus names are BankerFox.A & Win32/Nuquel.E

Google what is popping up in the windows. My dad had one the other day that I had about a year ago. There are steps to remove them. We had the one that tried to say we had a virus and to download this program to remove it. It is actually considered Malaware. Is that what you've got?

Anything that suggest an antivirus is dodgy, the antivirus is the virus!

I have recently downloaded Avast! free antivirus, because I didn't want to renew Norton. It was too pricey and slowed down the computer. It's only been a couple of days, but it seems fine.

Can you get viruses just from browsing, or is it from downloading files? I've never been too sure...

You can get viruses from clicking on a video link depending on the security settings of your browser.

Malware is a catch phrase for all malicious software including viruses, trojans, spyware, etc...

the only reliable way to know if your system is truly clean requires expert assistance. Your system is not necessarily clean because your antivirus software says it is gone. If you goto a website like the one I suggested, they will give you a link to download a tool that performs a deep scan of your system. Experts can review that and find all malware. That is the only way to KNOW that your system is really clean.

Well i get maybe 4 windows(balloons)popping up constantly. One Windows IE window that brings up porn, viagra ads,a box & balloon that says Security Warning "Application cannot be executed, file " " is infected.Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?
That box always pops up everytime i try to open a programme.
I'm trying to open my Lock Folder to save them in "My Documents" in case they get wiped(i'm going to take the HD to the shop & have it cleared)but it won't let me open it.
I think because it won't let me open the "Lock Folder" to save "My Documents" they're going to wiped along with the folder when the HD is cleared?.

I used this link and the first method worked on my dad's computer just this past Sunday.

Not sure if this is what you're getting, but if it is, that first method worked.

System Restore works for me. Its safe, simple, and already installed on most computers!

run malwarebytes anti-malware

You all are giving VERY BAD advice. Running one program will not definately clear up this infection. I installed avast free on a friends netbook and it will not clean up what you have. You probably have AV Security Suite virus (or something like that). That is pretty nasty. Anti malware bytes should clean that up, but you could easily have other infections as well.

You risk your security and re-infection if you do not follow the appropriate full set of steps to remove the infection.

You should also run SuperantiSpyware, Combofix, CClean and other tools as mentioned on the website I specified earlier. Plus if you don't follow the proper instructions these removal tools may not do the entire job they are supposed to.

Did you know that system restore can hide viruses and allow for re-infection? Do you know how to prevent this? If not- bad luck for you...

Don't be lazy - follow all the steps given at a reputable malware removal forum site. That is the only way to guarantee your computer is free from all malware is to do what I suggested.

Thanks guys,i don't want to wipe any of my music, pics etc so, i'll just leave it to the pro's.I'm going to take it into the shop tomorrow & have the hd cleared but, tell them to save "My Documents".Atm i'm just really worried that all my good music & pics etc along with my foot pics that is locked in my "Lock Folder"is going to be wiped along with everything else when the hd is cleared.I cannot open it to type in password to unlock the folders.Unless it doesn't matter?.

I have dragged the "Lock Folder" into "My Documents"so, hopefully after they clear the hd i can go into "My Documents"& open "Lock Folder"& the music, pics etc will still be safe.

unfortunately, the first thing most viruses do is turn it off and delete the restore points.

The advice I posted has worked and has numerous checks/balances, even to the point of doing some coding should you wish to go all out.

Make sure they scan the files you want backed up.

Not sure why you don't want to do this yourself. It is relatively easy with the walk through guides.

But if you have the money to blow and wish to rebuild up your computer after it is wiped then that is not necessarily a bad idea. It is the best way to absolutely ensure that your computer is clean.

Personally - I would try to clean and then wipe if it was suggested by an expert after posting up log files.

Good luck...

System restore does not reliably clear out many virus infections. You have been fortunate and could still have a hidden trojan or spyware and not even know it.

lust4latinafeet, I hope you're able to get your computer cleaned without losing anything valuable. All of my previous PCs were eventually dumped because of viruses and/or malware. I've had my Macbook Pro for going on three years, and haven't had any issues of that kind.

I used to be 100% Mac and I agree, never had issues with viruses and spyware. I did have a hard drive go corrupt, but that has nothing to do with it being a Mac or PC. If it wasn't for Macs costing more than they're worth and programs being more available for Mac, I'd still be using them today.

I just got the hd back.I've just began restoring some of the programmes i had but,i did something in the process.I found my folder with the foot pics etc & tested it out.I made the folder "hidden" before i created my user account but, now i can't find it.I checked in my new user account & back in the Owner account where i fist found it but, it's gone.I chose both "show" & "do not show"hidden files option & still don't see it anywhere.
I also had other pics(unrelated to porn)that i saw but can't find that now either.
I sure hope i didn't delete them in the process of putting my sh*t back together, damn.
I'm hoping to sort it out before other users jump online. The folders may pop up somewhere while they're using the comp.
That's one thing i hate.Everytime i have the hd cleared all the separate user accounts are wiped & all the saved data is mixed all into one account.I even find some old material from years back mixed in there. It's so confusing i don't know which files to keep, there's so many folders(pictures, music)etc all mixed up it's stupid.

Does anyone know of a really good, secure Lock Folder that won't show your chosen files when people do a search on your computer?.There are 4 other user accounts on this comp.
I tested my hidden files & did a search on the computer & they still showed up but, that was without ticking the "do not show hidden files" option which is so f*cking risky. You could forget or be in a rush & have to leave to go out. Then someone else may do a search on the computer while you're away & up pops your foot pics [Eek!]
Surely there's a more secure privacy option?.

I've tested the "Search"on the computer a few times & found all the pics/folders i have as "hidden"& in a Lock Folder with password, appear while searching, WTF is up with that?.That's the very reason we choose to have them hidden & in a Lock Folder with a password so NOBODY can see them.
