There was a tiff at work when I was working with a dude of how Ozzies would say "THONGS"... I know Americans call em' "FLIP FLOPS" as I've known this has been through a thread.... BUT... In New Zealand we called them "JANDALS"....
What are they called in your country/region or area? Foriegn languages are most welcome too

Flip-flops.
To me, thong sandals are the ones with ankle straps, as well as a thong between the big and second toes.
And thongs are just underwear.

Thongs. Always have been in Australia, though i tend to use flip flops on this forum to differentiate from the underwear.

that's certainly appreciated because as an American the only thing I think of when someone says "thong(s)" is underwear- especially since they've become so popular the last few years.
