I have long suspected that foot fetishism is among the most widely held fetishes. There is too much industry centered around decorating and accentuating the female foot, too much consensus that strappy shoes are 'sexy', and too many instances of barefoot women depicted in print media when the main point trying to be conveyed is sexuality. I ran across this article from 2007 discussing the results of a legit research study on sexual fetishes.
The frequency of foot fetishism is much higher than many of us on this board have estimated during similar discussions of this topic.

I always figured this, but its good to have independent proof. I think the few people who don't think its that common are also the same ones who don't realize there's more than one position besides missionary.

"heels" were just mentioned in the title of that particular press coverage of the research and actually misrepresents what the actual findings were. I have downloaded and posted the actual scientific journal article in the second link and you can see what they actually found out. There's a chart of fetishes and feet were at the top by a very large margin. If you read their methods it appears the study was controlled pretty well and wasn't based on search engine statistics.
