Just out of curiousity, how large do you guys like your still photos to be when viewing photos/galleries? I just bought a new camera and although not the most extreme high end, it is a really good one on the market. I am going to start uploading larger file sizes regardless, but I just want to know how much is too much for people?

To be honest, when I open a photo and all I see is the blue of the sky, or four eyelashes on the model's eye because the picture is SO big, I find it annoying. Add in that some people want to view on their phones WITHOUT wifi at times and I know those larger files can be a nuisance.

I really don't want to go the route of having each photo on the site in various scales for people either, so I'm looking for a nice middle ground when it comes to large vs. too large. So what do you all like? I'm looking to hear what everyone has to say.

Having the images UHQ (above 4000p) is good when zooming in and for printing. But I don't mind the medium sized pix (above 2000p).

One site I am a member of offers 1600 x 1200 and something like 4000 x 3000; the former is enough for me.

1600 x 1200 is good enough for 4 x 6 to 5 x 7, but I do not make prints from other people's content.

Have fun with your new toy Patrick! [Wink]

If its just for Internet viewing, you can go as low as 600x800.

If it fits the screen it's cool with me. Clickable thumbnails are good too.

So long as i can see the entire pic without having to scroll, it's cool with me.

Well, I already do the 1280x960 file size, so it won't go less than that. With the widescreen monitors being 1920x1200 size, I was thinking of going around that 1920 mark.
