Cant believe this thread hasnt been started yet!
Post who is your favorite Ultimate Fighter or talk about the results of an event!
I'll start things off by talking about Ultimate Fighter 6. Just starts tonight with Matt Serra and Matt Hughes as coaches and then they will face off in the octagon in December!

Damn straight, I was thinking of starting up this sort of thread myself. I did try to get a boxing thread going, but a grand total of one person posted.

I'm not too familiar with TUF 6, and I probably won't get to watch much of it, but I will comment on the Serra/Hughes, title fight. I want Serra to win, but I think Hughes'll become a 3-time welterweight champion. However, I think whoever wins will get beat by St. Pierre, more focused and hungrier than ever, especially if he gets a rematch with Serra. 170 is so stacked right now. Who gets the next shot after GSP? Hughes, to finish the trilogy? Penn, even though he's assured the next shot at 155 champ Sherk? Karo? Fitch? Anyway, my picks for the upcoming UFC 76:

Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine- Two guys coming off of embarassing knockout losses. Jardine's good, but Chuck is the ex-champ and has shown he can knockout anyone not named Quentin Jackson. Liddell by KO (2nd round).

Mauricio Rua vs. Forrest Griffin- The UFC debut of the much-vaunted Shogun, and he's given the very popular, very ballsy, ex-TUF winner. Shogun has dominated just about everyone he's faced and some people are already annointing him the next UFC Light Heavyweight Champion (especially as he destroyed Rampage in their first fight in Pride). I don't know about that, but he will get by a game Forrest. Shogun by TKO (2nd round).

Diego Sanchez vs. Jon Fitch- The highly underrated Fitch finally gets a big fight against another ex-TUF alumni, who is coming off a lackluster loss to Koscheck. The MMArks are almost all picking Fitch by domination, but you cannot completely count out a guy who earned a hard-fought win over the excellent Karo Parisyan (though I thought Karo won, but that's another story). Still, I'm picking the guy who's deserved it for a long time.
Fitch by decision.

Kazuhiro Nakamura vs. Lyoto Machida- Yet another Pride veteran arrives in the UFC, this time in the form of Judo expert Nakamura, a very tough, very difficult fighter who's losses have only come against the best of the LHW division (Wand, Shogun, Lil Nog). Machida is no joke and he has a knack for always exploiting his opponents' weaknesses in a fight. A very interesting fight, especially for those hardcore MMArks, but I think Nakamura's grappling is better than Machida's. Nakamura by decision.

Tyson Griffin vs. Thiago Tavares- I have to admit, I don't know much about Tavares, but I'm pretty sure he's undefeated in the UFC so far, and probably undefeated overall. He's yet another talented fighter from MMAd Brazil. Griffin's a very well-rounded fighter who excels in just about all facets of the game, though he's coming off a very questionable win against Clay Guida that I though should have gone to Guida. He'll probably be looking to emphatically erase any doubts and restore his status as one of the premier young prospects around. Griffin by TKO (3rd round).

Im pissed of severley because I realize that I have to work tomorrow night!!!
TUF 6 got off to a rocky start...Matt Hughes already playing head games with Serra..Hughes got to pick the first fight and picked Serra's "boy" from back home Scarola. Put him up against a guy that has over 25 professional fights. Made it to the second round and tapped out with about 5 seconds left!!
In the 2 hour evaluation a guy had his elbow broke and had to be taken to the doctors...all this AFTER Serra picked him to be on his team!
The guy started freaking out and had to leave and then was replaced immediately.
Team Hughes has by far the more superior team and concerning the title fight between Hughes and Serra..well..like you pointed out Salvy...it doesnt really matter who wins because GSP will destroy the winner as he is hungrier than ever.

Sorry to butt in guys....... we don't get full-on UFC on our side of the globe but get that T.V reality "The Ultimate Fighter"....

Ummmmmm is MMA part of the UFC? coz I've been a fan of KIMBO for about a year now since his streetfights have been posted all over youtube and now he's crossed into the MMA... Won his first fight (seen on youtube) by way of submission which is a suprise to me as I've always known him to be a striker and now to see him grapple/takin' it to the floor means he's been well trained.... And straight after his fight calls out Tank Abbot...

No, UFC is MMA, Mixed Martial Arts that is. The UFC is just an individual MMA promotion, just like the virtually defunct Pride, K-1 Heroes, WEC, ICON, Elite XC, Shooto, DEEP, Pancrase, etc. It just so happens that the UFC happens to be the largest MMA promotion on the planet, cemented when UFC's parent company, Zuffa, bought Pride, and brought most of the best fighters from Pride into the UFC.

As for Kimbo, I'm not that impressed by him at all, to be honest. It's good that he wants to get away from the street fights, and is training the ground, but in reality, he beat a 45-year old boxer in Ray Mercer who was in his own heyday in the early to mid 90s and who has never done any grappling since his wrestling days in high school. Kimbo's a big dude with heavy power, but he gasses quick and all he's ever fought in his street fights are no hope bums who have no clue how to really fight. The one time he fought a guy who even somewhat knew what he was doing, he got his ass kicked. So no, I don't take Kimbo that seriously, even after a win over a faded ex-contender who's never fought MMA before and got beat on the ground. If that had been a boxing match, Mercer would have blown Kimbo away.

The only reason I liked watching Kimbo's fights was because it was going to be a guaranteed knockout happening. But yes the fight that Kimbo fought Sean(cant remember his last name),Kimbo got his ass handed to him...probably what made him decide to try out MMA. If Kimbo was to step into the octagon it would make UFC a joke...I dont know what he is hoping for in training in MMA but I just hope Dana White doesnt allow him into the UFC..unless its just a gimmick to try and sell the sport in an untapped market overseas somewheres...

Damn, 2 for 5 on the main card for me, and WAY off base with the Jardine/Liddell and Griffin/Rua fights. I'm not at all upset my picks lost (and I'm very pleased that Forrest Griffin won...by submission!), I just thought that Liddell especially would have fought extra nasty coming off that embarassing loss to Rampage. And Shogun is Shogun; he's supposed to be the next big thing in MMA, not to mention he destroyed Rampage when they fought 2 years ago. I'm gonna try to watch the fights as soon as they get uploaded somewhere. I especially want to watch the Griffin/Rua upset, perhaps the biggest upset of the year this side of Serra/St. Pierre.

hey..just head to mmalinker.com...register..its free..post 3 times and you can view the vids! The Liddle fight was a close one...Jardine's face is a mess while Liddel hardly looks scratched...the body kicks are the only thing that one it for Jardine. Landed about a good 10 or so...although he did drop Liddle once..barely..but Liddle jumped right back up and continued on not even flinching...they should DEFINELTY rematch... as for the Griffin fight..well..for all the hype that Rua brought with him I didnt think he looked all that specatcualar..especially to tap out to Griffin..

Griffin is really good, training with the MMA God himself (Randy Couture) is really doing wonders for him. It looks to me like Shogun didn't train hard for this fight, as if he thought he'd just run right through Forrest. If that was the case, then that's on him. Either way, it was a great win for Forrest, and puts him on the fast track to a title shot (he'll probably lose a competitive 5-round war to Rampage though). Really, the only guys who have been coming in looking good from Pride are Rampage and Hendo (even though he lost, I thought Hendo looked good in the fight against Rampage earlier this month, Rampage is a difficult style match-up for Hendo; similar wrestling-based style, but Rampage is bigger, stronger, and a better striker.)

I don't know what's going on with some of these Pride guys. CroCop and Shogun have not impressed at all, Herring's just mucking along, even Big Nog didn't look all that great in his debut. Not to mention Marcus Aurelio lost cleanly to the underrated Clay Guida.

For all the hype that the Pride guys bring you would think they would at least live up half of it! [Tongue]
I was watching the Bodog fighting tonight..featuring women MMA!
The fight that I saw was a Japanese Windy Momori vs. British Rosi Sexton...Windy got her leg/ankle broke!! I couldnt believe it...during a takedown by Rosi..her leg went under both of them and snapped like a twig!! Dont even see that in the UFC!
Who's watching TUF 6 tomorrow night???

Shogun wasn't the normal Shogun. I've been watching Pride for over 5 years and that just wasn't him. As for the rest of Pride fighters coming over and not doing so well, I don't know what to say. I can tell you this, when Wanderlei Silva steps into the ring in December, its going to be non-stop action. I love watching that man fight. He and Kazushi Sakuraba were my two favorite fighters from the first time I started watching MMA.

Nobody will stop Wanderlei Silva.

Don't forget, Anderson Silva was in Pride before he came to the UFC and destroyed Leben and Rich Franklin, and now holds the belt.

My favorite fighters are, in no particular order:
Fedor
Rampage
GSP
Randy
Mayhem
Karo
Forrest
Big Nog
Sudo
Hendo

As you can see, all my favorites are guys who are either bad ass wrestlers, grapplers, or both.
