For those of you who missed it, earlier this month Michael Moore was on CNN doing a live interview for his movie Sicko and pretty much tore them a new one.
I don't particularily think extremely highly of the guy, but its about time SOMEONE stood up to the media.

Thanks for posting this link - I actually was watching Wolf Blitzer's spot and missed the interview. I do believe there are a lot of problems regarding the Iraq War, but was it professional for Mr. Moore to very irately leak out his biases when he was supposed to be interviewed about his documentary Sicko - absolutely not.

I agree that it wasn't exactly professional for him to get so irate over the subject of health care. However I don't think there was much room for biased, the health care system in the United States does need work, the same goes for the system here in Canada, its not perfect. I didn't see the segment that preceded his interview, which from he was saying, seemed to slam the movie right from the start.
The media is supposed to provide just the facts, not try and make a decision for you. Its a difficult thing to accomplish but that is their job. If they go around, as Moore was saying, explaining that his movies can't be true based on (fact) then they aren't properly bringing the people the news.
I do have to admit I'm not a fan of the media, I served in Afghanistan and had a slew of journalists attached to my seciton on various patrols. When I'd hear their report on what happened it was like they were on a different planet.
ANYWAY, it wasn't really professional of Moore to go on a rant, but at the same time CNN has some work to do.

To me, it doesn't matter if Michael Moore was being professional or not. The guy says what needs to be said. He got his chance to be on CNN live, so he let them have it without them being able to edit it. I dont see a problem with it at all. CNN and others only report the way our government wants them to. And they get paid well by our government to "candy coat" what is really going on. I don't like to be lied to....thats why I listen to what Michael Moore has to say.

Well I live in Canada, and I apologize in advance if I insult anyone for any reason. I'm just simply stating things from my point of view.
Canada has never actually had a draft, our entire military even in WW2 was made up entirely of volunteers.
I served with the Canadian military over there for six months, out of those six months I think its safe to say I saw somewhere around 4 or 5 journalists cycle through my section alone. If we were to go out on a patol and, say, a local would throw a rock or something out of protest for "whatever," the report the journalist would give is that we got attacked. Not ENTIRELY a lie but at the same time FAR from the truth.
You are right, the media IS a business and in order to make money they need viewers. People thrive off of controversy, they WANT to hear about attacks and explosions and how many Taliban were killed today, how many of our boys got injured etc.. To be perfectly honest, when we get attacked, the drivers of our armored vehicles, whose job is solely to drive, have to stop and wait for the gunner to finish up killing the bad guys before he can drive again. (Unless directed otherwise by the crew commander) During this time, they just pull out their PSP and watch movies.. Yes.. movies... Rounds flying over head, RPG's blowing up off the side of the vehicle and the driver is sitting there, bored, watching a movie. The equipment we have over there is grossly overkill, they can't penatrate our armor unless they get a lucky shot in or setup a massive amount of IED's, VBIED's, or suicide bombers.
How many people would watch the news if they reported it truthfully? As long as they try to make money we will never hear the truth about whats going on anywhere.
The protesting of wars has always gotten HUGE media attention, so the Canadian media is constantly trying to paint the image that Canadians should not want to be in Afghanistan. Trust me from first hand experience, the local population of Afghanistan wants us there and is very appreciative of what we are doing. They've built memorials for every one of our boys that have died fighting for them without any input from us.
But anyway, this has strayed WAY off the Michael Moore video conversation
