I am a democrat, a way-to-the-left liberal. Anyone else?

Posted by ljjnico (Member # 15015) on :

I see things from both a liberal and a conservative perspective but I don't want Hillary Clinton as the next President of the US. I would rather see Barack Obama as the first black president.

Hard to define...I'm left of liberal on some things, right of conservative on others, sometimes just plain liberal, other times plain ol' conservative...I'm all over the board when it comes to politics!

I'm definitely more conservative, but not on all issues. My biggest problem with the dems right now is their affiliation with and support of trial lawyers. Bloodsuckers. Lawsuits are necessary, but they have turned into a lottery for some people and a crapshoot at making a few bucks for others. People in this country wonder why medical care costs so much, well a big proportion of that cost can be attributed to riduculous malpractice suits. Not just the suits themselves(cost of malpractice insurance, etc), but the way medicine is practiced to an overtesting, ultraconservative extent to avoid suits.
Also, I'm sick and tired of ultra-liberal groups such as the ACLU (American Criminals liberty union). They worry more about the rights of criminals, do nothings, and terrorists than they do about my family, friends, and other good, hard working tax paying citizens.

My more liberal side would include gun control (to a certain extent), abortion rights(although I personally want nothing to do with it), and conservation/environmental issues.

Oh and Democrats are for fucking, I agree, just not with their own wives.

Obviously just my opinion (except for the truth of the last statement).

I would say I'm middle of the road. However, the things lambskin mentioned are some of the main reasons I'm not crazy about the Dems, as well as the things that I do go along with (to a certain extent).

It seems to me that the far side of each party make the most noise and, for the most part, are completely out of touch about what the majority of the people in the U.S. want.

I spent the first four years of the millennium supporting the troops and saying George W. Bush was doing OK. Didn't like him, didn't hate him.

Of course, now we're in our 7th year of this atrocity and the fourth year of something he said would only take a few weeks to a couple months.

And everyone from Mark Foley to Ted Haggard, from the illegal wiretapping CIA to the rise of this new form of Christian Fascism, is proving that I was wrong.

SO NOW, in 2007, I say FUCK BUSH.

(Hey, I gave him a shot for FOUR FUCKING YEARS. I tried, honestly.)

FUCK the homophobic, intolerant, closed-minded, hypocritical, scandelous, bigoted, power-hungry, war-mongering, corporate-fellating, Jesus-humping, global warming, Jew-hating, racist, sexist, heartless, hopeless, idiotic, moronic, sophomoric, imperialist, white supremacist, lying LYING LYING government.

And, to think, GOD wanted THIS fuck to be PRESIDENT???!!!! There is nothing more corrupt than a man who THINKS God is always on his side. And the Religious Right is full of them.

Methinks I smell bullshit. About four fucking years too late, I'm sorry to say.

I'll side with Satan. If Bush is really a man of God, then fuck God. Heed the warnings of Sauron the Dark Lord and Emperor Palpatine, because Bush is taking notes. Or having someone else do it for him, while he prays for a cleansing whirlwind to rid the world of gays and Muslims.

FUCK BUSH. Fuck him up his stupid redneck, Bible-thumping, war-mongering asshole. Let's put him on trial and bury him upside down next to his buddy Saddam. They'll both be in hell together and I'm sure they'll have plenty to talk about.

I used to support Bush. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. I'M SO, SO, SO SORRY!!! I swear I didn't vote for him. All I can do now is bitch about it.

What irritates me is that Bush won't leave until Iraq until we reach victory. What is victory? Is victory poking our nose into a civil war and placing together a divided Iraq? Is victory defined by the Bush Administration's possible underlining attempt to justify a reason for being in Iraq - I also get infuriated when pointing the finger at Bush gets OVERLOOKED and people start pointing fingers at Senator Clinton for changing her mind on the war, and refusing to acknowledge that her vote was a mistake. John McCain's 70-year-old ass - with all due respect to his bravery in Vietnam - is saying Rumsfeld is the worst Defense Secretary this nation has ever had.

Bush is an IDIOT no matter how you look at it

"Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job"

He gave great priase toward Michael D. Brown in the above quote. former FEMA (Federal Emergency Medical Agency) director who went on to get fired that following week. I don't think the guy has any common sense either. Wiggler, and whoever else would like to, watch this video about George Bush and note the lady in the key-lime green!

I am a republican doubtfull of the parties future. The Iraq war has servily dented the parties reputation and sending more troops to Iraq wont sove this. Britain's force of about 8000 are slowly pulling out and Bush should follow this path. I think if we have a democrat presendent the war would come to an end. I had high hopes for Bush when i was living in england just like I had high hopes for Tony Blair (Who is quiting in may, Thank GOD!)but their war in Iraq because of "WEPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION" and we can't even do anything when we have actual proof that Iran could build nuclear weopons. We could invade Iran, I don't think we should stray into another war yet, but is surrounded by occupided Iraq and Afganistan making a invasion easy. I just wish Bush would quit to, that would solve alot of the world current problems

I forget who said it,but someone once said that if you were not a Democrat in your 20's you had no heart...and if you weren't a Republican in your 40's you had no brains.I guess our priorities of impotance change as we get older.

That all boils down to who the "base" is.

For Democrats it's intellectuals, usually intelligent educated young people and families. They tend to think more idealistically, as their lack of real world experience has prevented them from a jaded outlook on life.

For Republicans it's usually middle aged to senior citizens. Concerned with crime statistics going up every year (it is remarkable how easy it is to manipulate statistics to further a cause) and perceived threats whether real or unreal. Also they take a pretty big chunk of the well off/rich population who would rather not have to pay taxes on their 1.5 million dollar salary.

Since Im Canadian I don't support either stance, but it's obvious I would lean more towards a democrat. To me, there is nothing in this world more evil than hypocracy. Men who yell from the highest mountain top how righteous they are and how the rest of us are evil, meanwhile they participate in sexual misconduct, racism, corporate crime, environmental attrocities, adultury etc. etc. etc.

Whom do they think the Lord will pass a heavier judgment upon? A man who likes big booty on the side, or a man who constantly preaches the word of God to the public but practices the opposite of his teachings? A whole lot of people are in for a pretty crappy welcome at the pearly gates.

I'm relatively conservative with a libertarian bent (in other words, less is more)

I dislike regulation (Republicans always want to regulate/legislate morality, Democrats want to regulate and legislate everything else, both of which I disagree with)
I don't like taxes
I don't want even bigger government
I do support gay rights
I am pro-choice
Not too big on religion, though I'd never go on the offensive against it as Democrats and the ACLU do.
Not a fan of unions
I am totally, completely ambivalent on the death penalty.

The description I have given above is about as close as I can come to describing my politics...the unfortunate thing is that neither Republicans nor Democrats speak to my thoughts, and I'm not hardcore libertarian enough to commit to them, either.

I'm a hardcore Democrat. However, I getting sick of the Dems as well as the Reps.

As long as we get THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER out of office I don't care if it's Dem or Rep at this point. I've about had it with corrupt $$$$$$$$$$ politics...

And Ralf Nadar is a wanna be cantidate who leads people with false hope...

I am with Wiggler 100%!!! And I also agree with Sasha above....the problem with this country is the multi-billionares that are running it! They are businessmen....thats it! They dont give a shit about politics, or whats good for the country, they are just running their businesses the way they want, and fuck everyone else! That is why they ran for office.
I dont think it matters anymore if a Democrat or Republican gets into office. If they are money hungry, or if their buddies are money hungry, we will be fucked again!
I have said this before......the person I want to win is the one who spends $25,000 on their campaign......not $50,000,000! Because the person who only spent $25,000 probably didnt take any bribes from corporate businesses. That person will be more likely to do good for the American people, and not just help the giant corporations.
Laws HAVE to come before money....right now they dont!

I'm a libertarian currently regestered as a republican so i can support the campaign of Ron Paul. Everyone owes it to themselves to look him up.

Agreed! Admittedly, I haven't done all my homework on politics the way I probably should here lately, but I watched some clips of Ron Paul speaking, and the things he proposes sound impressive! I don't know if they'd be feasible in a four year term, but these ideas sound very good, and quite frankly long overdue.

The way it stands right now, personally speaking, Ron Paul would get my vote before anybody else.

Personally, I am Independent. I believe in the way our country was founded (as a Republic).
We have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We have more rights than any other country in the world.
Lets keep it that way. One of our greatest rights is being exercised right now on this forum. Best damn country in the entire world!!

Everyone is born with the same rights, what it boils down to is how much your government oppresses you. Let's see, the US robs us at gunpoint then uses the money to kill brown people worldwide, they tell us we can't light up a joint or have sexually explicit material on our fetish websites.

I can think of only one candidate who would fix each one of those gripes and then some.

Republican senators are for FUCKING too, just seemingly only with their own sex... while condemning homosexuality too.... confusing..... anyway, i am considered by republicans to be way liberal but i dont support any specific party, i vote for the person but i can tell you i wont be voting republican for quite some time... where the Christian Right hangs around is where i want control of our country the furthest from

I can't affiliate with either side myself. The closer you get to one extreme, the closer you simultaneously end up to the other. It's not a political spectrum so much as it is a political ring. The Michael Moores and Anne Coulters of this world need to just shut the fuck up, they have absolutely no sense of anything and talk out of their asses.

As of right now, I'm a registered voter who is not affiliated with any political party. I suppose if anything, I lean left on most things, but I strongly support the military and the need for this country to defend itself. This whole quagmire in Iraq is not defending ourselves, and we've put ourselves in one fucked up situation. Staying there doesn't do anything, and pulling out means all our guys died in vain without achieving anything long-term. It's a no-win situation at the current moment, because our jackass of a president thought it was okay to double-task and to do each task half-assed.

I don't care who becomes the next president, as long as they're not another member of the Bush Mob or the extremely religious right.
