Do you notice in DVD movies, the sound level is very low when they are talkin' but the action scene sound effects and/or Backround music is very high? Doesn't happen on T.V as I usually (Sony 29") set the volume to 17 or 18 which is pretty loud itself, but when I play a DVD movie I have to raise it to about 32 which I can just make the converstion comfortably but action scenes are very loud... I usually have to turn the volume down so it doesn't disturb others and turn on the subtitles Sometimes the mrs gets a lil' pissed that I rewind it back a lil' if I've missed somethin'
I've noticed it for a very very long time but thought it was me gettin' deaf somehow til a hearin' test I've done recently sayin' my hearin' is fine.... So....
I was just askin' have any of you experince/d this?

Sorry, bad joke. I'm getting very hard of hearing myself from too many years of loud music. Its worse when you go to a movie in a theater. The sound levels are just way to high and for some reason movie makers today feel that they have to have a loud sound track blasting over dialogue or in an action scene as you mentioned. Think how different a movie would be if there wasn't any music dubbed in. Just the ambient noise of the surroundings that are in each scene. I wonder how that would change the way you feel about a movie. Interesting...

Yeah, Iīve noticed, too. Itīs really annoying. I also have the impression that it`s more with DVDs from the US. When I watch a movie in German there doesn`t seem to be a big difference in volume between the talking/music.

it is annoying. it happens because most dvds are mixed for 5.1 with most of the talking going to the center speaker, and invariably most 5.1 systems that sane people buy have underpowered centers. i just keep the remote handy.

LOL LeDaemon, you had me going until I came across your second post. I just noticed in general though with DVD and VHS it seems like you have to turn up the sound and when you're done watching your movie, the TV is always blaring! Well, not blaring perse but uncomfortably loud.

on most cheap systems, as is my case, you can't raise it enough to compensate. The best solution is to buy or build a better system with a big center and good enough receiver to power it.

I use a 5.1 system I got from bestbuy for around 600 and it has a feature called c.focus and it makes what's coming outta the middle speaker(dialoge) come out louder in the 3 front speakers.also most dvds have an audio settings section that gives u the choice the 2.0 or 5.1.I say try that first
