I had the game as a kid, too...I went to a toy shop the other day and bought a "modern" version of it for my daughter...looks different but it`s still fun to play.

I remember it. I never owned one though. My earliest recollection of a hand held electronic game I owned was Mattel Football 2. I got it back in 1978 or so I believe. I remember having a Coleco football too. Shit, come to think of it I had Mattel versions of hockey and basketball from way back when.

HAND-HELDS
I rember having the flip "Donkey Kong" I got for my 9th birthday I think....
Swapped it for a weekend with a school friend of mine for his "Crazy Kong"
The idiot broke it, I asked him what happened, he said that It was dirty and washed it in water ... I took mine back and ended up keeping his too... What a loss (at the time)

Those games in the 80s were those early LCD (liquid crystal display) screens that had the characters in all black. Those just a few years earlier had the LED (Light Emitting Diode) displays which nothing more than little red lights. If my daughter has a Nintendo DS so if she saw one of our old games she would think we were a bunch of morons for wasting so much time with simplistic distractions!
That Simon game you originally brought up was really popular way back then I recall. I don't remember how the thing kept score. Perhaps you can refresh my memory on that one.

I remember seeing those games. Never played them. I'm a little older than most of you. I was in the Navy when Pong and Frogger were popular. I had friends that we used to call "Vidiots". One guy had an Atari system hooked up to his t.v. and it literally never got turned off. There was someone in his household playing the damn thing 24/7. No B.S. (When I first got out of the Navy I stayed with them for a couple of weeks until I got an apartment.)

Yeah with the evolution of handheld gaming today. Now you got McDonalds Kids Happy Meals comming with LCD games that do about the same...

While I was hunting around for that pic, I stumbled across this one. When I was about 7-ish I was in hopital and this older kid had this game... To me he was the coolest dude for having it... Pacman

^ I also remember that Pacman game from a catalogue but I`ve never played/seen it live. Would have loved to have it as a kid.
Not a handheld but do you guys remember this one? I played it with my brother in the early 1980s but it was a pain to first "programme" the coordinates of the ships into the computer memory.

Sounds like we're from the same generation as far as vid games goes. I remember playing pong the first time probably back in '76 at a restaurant. It was one of those table versions that you would sit at and would have cigarette burns on it and rings from drinks people had set on them. Remember those other early games like Night Driver and that first vector games like Space Wars or Lunar Lander? I was nuts over those as a kid.

I remember the game Simon but never had it as a kid, nor did I play it much with people who did have it because I never really cared for the game.
I remember the Coleco Football handheld game. I wanted one of those really bad. I ended up getting a Radio Shack ripoff a couple of years after the popularity of the Coleco version waned.
I did have a Pacman handheld game though that looked like the game cabinet of the original arcade version of Pacman.

I really really wanted that game when I was a kid... I used to be mezmorised by the commercial when it came on T.V. I hinted to mum, dad and the rest of the family for it but NEVER got it... Would of really enjoyed playin' it with my brother too....
Oh well when I was old enough to get a job and save up, I got an altered version of it for my brother for christmas... Had fun with this one.. Starwars Galactic Battle

Yeah, Le Daemon I remember those old table top models. They sure made a lot of money for the bar owners. You could never get to one. There was always a list of people waiting to "challenge the winner". This statement will surely date me. When I was a senior in high school, I had to use a slide rule for calculations 'cause a pocket calculator cost a couple hundred bucks (and it really didn't fit in your pocket).
