Interesting - I've heard of such an thing going on, but didn't realize it is now in our slang vernacular meaning women that are straight but occasionaly have sex with other women I think Katy perry had a lil something to do with it. I'm trying to find a source to link to, but can't find it on Wikpedia. Found this, though.

There was a time when words had definite and strict meanings. In the age of Political Correctness, words are bent, folded, spindled, and mutilated to make some specific act or sentiment seem like another; very often it is a tactic used to make something that is largely unacceptable somewhat more generally palatable. It is no substitute for being open and honest.
Having said that, diatribe out of the way, it is a cute expression that has a "ring" to it; in a sound-bite world, it surely sells but really describes nothing.
It is a painfully brief expression that would be better replaced by the old "Bi-Curious" for the beginners. For those who want to try it more than twice, they are definitely Bisexual.
As for the "hotness"...Been there, an amazing and wonderous thing.

Pretty lame to me. Bisexual; Period. There is no "Flex sex" where "oh sometimes i'd like to sleep with a good looking girl!"
Really, that's bi sexual. Nobody who's bi unless their stupid even a straight person, sleeps with an unattractive person in their eyes of the opposite sex.
Stupid word, stupid idea. Bisexual, that's all there is to it.
I'm with toetapper. What a lame idea.

hehe.. in the world of swingers there are all different variations of bisexual even.. as toetapper said there's the bi-curious, but i've also see bi-comfortable as well as bi-socially. both of the latter terms are basically saying that they will do girl-girl with the right person and in the right situation, but they arent bi. dunno about how you look at it, but if you are doing any girl-girl and liking it.. you're bi. period. and there aint NOTHING wrong with that

If you're doing anything with the same sex more than one time, you go from bi-curious to, Hey i kind of liked that i want to do it again; bisexual. There is no, anything in between, situational circumstances (i.e. Drunk) that makes this any different.
Same sex sex = bi sexual if you're still having sex with the opposite sex. If you only have sex with same sex, you're apparently gay. But no matter what the frequency of it happening, you're still bisexual. Period.

umm.. no. not like that at all. what you're implying is that being called bisexual is a derogatory term.. and to me, its a badge of honor
Mikey P, you made me laugh, again.
nusuth: Exactly! Lets call things what they are rather than distort or obfuscate the facts.
I am weary of the politicians being unable to say anything with any sense of clarity. It is appalling that, rather than decrying it, the general populace is beginning to imitate it. It is very easy for me to envision a world (in the not-too-distant future) in which many words are spoken yet nothing has been said; it will be a very complex and sophisticated language that is bereft of any substance or meaning.
