So after being in the thread about fat people it got me thinking of a new thread that I don't believe I have seen here at Wu's. What is everyone's workout regime? Or if you currently don't have one what's holding you back, and maybe some of the members here that workout consistenly can give you some tips to help you squeeze in a workout!
My regime right now is working out Mon-Fri with about 10-15 minutes of running laps around the track and its 9 laps=a mile and I'm currently at the 12 lap stage before the legs start cramping up. As for the weight portion I just grab the free weights for now and go 30lb each arm and do a variety of reps in different styles. Explosion reps work best for strength and muscle build up so I'm told. Pushups I'm up to 63 and situps I'm up to 40. I take the weekends off as well.

I have absolutely no regime right now. Back last June I hurt my foot on my daily jog which didn't stop for a week. After that I thought I'd give it a go again and then the pain came back a few blocks from the house so that pretty much ended the jogging. I'm going to give it another go when I buy another pair of running shoes. I was doing stretches, a mile jog, and then crunches and push ups. At one point I was doing 100 reps of each.
I guess middle age finally just decided to kick in on that run. Mind you I haven't put on a bunch of weight, but I do need to get back at it. I'm getting soft now.
First let me say that working out is "a straight man's crack!" It does more for your brain/body than could ever be measured. With that I gladly post my weekly workout schedule:
Monday: Eliptical 30 min/Stretch 15 min Tuesday: Stationary Bike 45 min Wednesday: Racquetball (2 to 3 hours) Thursday: Stationary Bike 45 min Friday: Eliptical 30 min/Stretch 15 min Saturday: Racquetball (2 to 3 hours) Sunday: Relax, eat like a pig, watch football
I must incorporate some lifting/strength training this spring! And some crunches/sit-ups!

See Second Timer on its important to add that day of rest and pigging out on "normal" food in there! I find it helps keep me sane from eating just salads and salmon and all of the other nutritous foods!
Great schedule you have Second Timer! How long have you been working out for??
LD, an injury can be one of the most frustrating things to have happen. Have you ever thought of getting an exercise bike??

Yeah, I've got an old 12 speed bike for riding have had probably since before you were born. I used to go riding 10 miles a day on it when I had the time. Only thing keeping me from it is laziness I suppose.
Fuck it, I'm going out and buying some new running shoes today.

Like Panic, I need to work the big muscle groups: back, chest, legs. I'm starting with a little weight and working up. At one time I did 200 crunches a day, 50 calf-raises with 250lbs on the machine twice a week, and all sorts of other strength training. I just fell out of it and I'm ashamed!
Time to REFOCUS hard!
Yes, Panic, would love for you to post the particulars of your workouts as we all might gain some knowledge or ideas...

Nice workout Mikey!
Now I read somewhere that it is better to workout everyday rather then taking a day off here and there. It helps the muscle build up quicker and maintain its strength...could be bullshit not sure?
I HAVE to start the weights...by the time I get to depot(the training academy for the police) I want to be able to lift 150% of my body weight which I currently weigh 170lbs.

you build muscle while you rest, if a body part is still sore from a previous workout you NEVER train it
really the progress you make in the gym all comes down to diet, if you don't have a proper diet you are wasting your time
that's why most people that go to the gym always look the same or worse, even when they've been going for years

i don't work out anymore, seemed like a complete waste to me. plus, i've gotten more and more self-conscience doing it.
But, i still have some of my workout logs from high school. here's what i used to do after track practices and the like
leg press (2x10) squats (1x10) lat pull down (3x10) shoulder press (3x10) push-ups (2x25) abs machine (2x25)*
*side note:we had 2 ab machines in my school weight room, so i did the sets on both. so it came out to 100.

The way my instructors back in my weight training class in college explained it is you do your work out one day and take a day off. Reason being is when you are lifting those weights something to the effect of small tears are being made in muscle tissue. The days you are resting are when its healing and thus building the mass. Sounded weird to me too.
Just thought I'd mention I bought my new Nike running shoes the other day. Gonna start up jogging again Monday morning before work.

I am actually bout to head off to the gym right now as I type this...my workout regime is rather simple - I usually just do workouts out of magazines with no goal to be buff, but rather to stay fit.
