The "scammed" thread really took a wild turn when I mentioned my purchase Of a 1972 Fury from Craig's list. So to make it easier for car people to chat, here's a thread for that purpose.
Here is a "Before" picture of the 1972 Plymouth Fury III that I bought for $750.00 It has rust on the quarter panels and the vinyl top is shot But, it runs very strong. It's got a new water pump and timing chain, aluminum intake manifold and a rebuilt 4bbl carb. on top. I haven't done anything to it yet. Haven't even opened the hood since it came home on Wednesday. I'll update as things progress.

Talking about a "sleeper" and 410 rear end, sounds like you're from my era. My first car was a '66 Mustang I bought in 1975. My older brother was a motorhead and he replaced the stock 289 with a 302 that he and a friend built for me. I don't remember what all they put in that thing but, I sure spent a lot on tires! After high school I joined the service and my dad sold my car. (I was so pissed I didn't call or write for the nest eight years!) While I was stationed in Cal. I fell in love with Harley's and that has been my focus since. Until I found this opportunity.

Man, that makes me miss my old '68 Impala I drove in high school (after I wrecked my '79 Firebird.) It had the 327 engine with the 4bbl carb. We called it the "Green Machine" because it was a two tone vomit green and rust color. The vinyl top was black and I remembered peeling it off completely one day and using a sander to smooth the roof. I had a crazy idea I was going to eventually restore the thing, but ended up selling it for $200 before leaving for college after graduation. You could sit 7 people in that car comfortably.
Maybe I should look on Craig's list for another '68 Impala for $200... fat chance.

The guy I got the Fury from had a '64 Impala in his garage. Fully restored. Beautiful car. He was going to do the Fury next, but a he had a job offer back up north and had to sell most everything quick so he could move. He was going to drive the Impala back up to his new job.
I liked the paint scheme ya had there LD.
I sure do miss my old Mustang. I've got pictures of it somewhere. I'll see if I can find any.

A '63 Impala is a sweet ride! I just finished stripping and sanding what was left of the vinyl top off of the Fury, put on a new fan clutch, pulled out the thermostat (doesn't overheat anymore) and did a tune up.Oh yeah, I took it for a joy ride the other night. You could smell burnt rubber all over the neighborhood! Now on to the rust battle!

That sticker is from Mass. (It's former home) Florida doesn't require that extra taxation. Mass. used to require an inspection twice a year when I lived there 22 years ago. Don't know about now.

cool! i love cars.. but don't have the luxury of doing more about it. the closest.. my father in law gave me his 91 caprice. i was going to do stuff to it, but budget concerns.. i'm going to have to get rid of it this week. I have no garage to hold on to it
but.. you got a deal there.. love to see what happens to it in the long run.
