TiVo is making its way here to New Zealand and I guess will be a competitor to our SKY-TV pay-per-view/cable type service we already have.
Just introduced around the middle of last year we've been introduced to MY-SKY where the HD decoder becomes a storage unit and can record 2 programs while watching a 3rd at the same time. I wonder how or what the difference is here between the 2. It's rumoured to be available here from November 1st.
Anyone here have TiVo or MY-SKY or both?
Your thoughts?

what the hell? NZ is just now getting TiVo? If you want my advice, I saw dont get it. It will control your life. You think that having the power to record all the tv shows you want is good so you can go out and do stuff, but all that happens is you end up recording so much crap (that you normally wouldnt watch), that you end up watching MORE tv than you do now. It will change your life if you get one, but maybe not for the best. it got so bad with me that i cant get rid of it if I wanted to. i would want to miss the lastest episode of the real housewifes of atlanta (thats an inside joke for the people in the US).
But honestly, it sounds like you got something very simmilar to tivo.

i have had it for about 6 or 7 years and really love it. it's nice to record shows that are on when i am not available to watch cause it's too late or whatever. i found that conversely, i had more time to do other things because i watched the things i REALLY wanted to watch when i had time instead of wasting time watching other things AND what i really wanted.
