Hi Guys,

I have asked this before but I'll try again.
This comp I use is registered to another family member so,if he was to have the Hard Drive cleared would everything(sites and all)show up?.How do you clear your hard drive and how do you look up things that are stored there?.
If every site and search I have done using this comp appears in the exact names (in english) appear when having the Hard Drive cleared then I am dead lol.Well not dead but I will be looked at as very weird for looking up all this porn and esecially the foot related things!!.Everyone will not want to talk to me and I wouldn't want to be seen by anyone!!.
If everything stored on the Hard Drive appears in code, say like symbols and numbers etc then I should be fine.If not,I think the only way to have everything completely erased is to delete a very important program which keeps the comp running.I know this because a person a family member accidentally deleted a program which shut down the comp and a blue screen appeared which said "Fatal System Error".It wiped everything completely and we had to have everything re-installed to get it up and running again. So this could be the only way?.

Can anyone help?.

Thanks Guys.

Run system restore if its enabled. Thats the easiest route. Take about 10 minutes;no worries.

From your Start menu, go to Control Panel and (assuming you're using Category view as opposed to Classic view) select the Performance and Maintenance category. Once you do that you'll see a clickable link for System Restore in the upper lefthand corner in the "See Also" box. If you don't see the link I'm referring to, just click on the icon that says "System" at the bottom of the Performance and Maintenance options and it will call up a System Properties window with various tabs on it, one of which will be System Restore. Hope that helps. Judging from one of your other posts from this morning, it looks like you might've already fixed your computer problems, so just disregard this if that's the case.

Hmm, I'm not really sure what the answer to that question is, so maybe somebody else who's used System Restore in the past can chime in here. I've only used it once before and it didn't solve the problem that I was having at the time. In some ways it seemed to make things even worse. Granted I'm no computer expert, but my gut tells me that if all you're looking to do is clear the searched memory then System Restore is probably not the option that you want to use.

you are better off restoring all the files by rebooting the entire system.that will clear all websites you entered.what you do is turn the computer completely off and put disc one for restoring files in the hard drive and turn the computer back on.just follow the directions it gives you.its like registering for the first time.make sure you back up all files before doin this don't lose any important info.

So I put disk one into the HD before turning on the comp?.What is the disk called that you are referring to?.Also, what if their are other user accounts on this comp?.Will all their things get wiped and how do I keep my saved files without having htem wiped,do I have to save them onto disc and just have the whole comp restored and then put them back in?.

Thanks.

back up all your files to a cd drive or zip disk. then go to windows and delete everything in the temp directory, then go to documents and settings and delete everything in there.
hope that helps

on his way to CNE
