We've been having a "Saturday Night DVD and Pizza" get-together and I've been logging into the forums sporadically throughout the night, a few minutes here and there.

Liv brought an mp3 and associated video of a song she said I just "HAD to hear". Listening to the mp3, I thought it was one of the most hillarious things I'd ever heard. Then when I watched the video it all made sense to me. The song is called "Pain Cave" and here are the lyrics:

"Come into my pain cave and I'll bludgeon you.
You don't have to scream because your ears are bleeding.
It's perfectly normal when someone bludgeons you.
The bleeding part that I was just referring to.

Paaaiiiin Caaaave, Paaaain Caaaaave, Paaaaaaaiiiin, CAVE!

(Chorus)

Pretty pretty pain cave in the pain cave
Pretty pretty pain cave in the pain cave
Pretty pretty pain cave in the pain caaaaaaaa-VAH!"

Liv tells me this song is about 12-15 years old and I don't know HOW I missed this extraordinary gem all these years. I wonder if there are any forum members who know the "Artists" behind the song "Pain Cave".

It was a song performed by characters Wayne & Garth (Mike Meyers & Dana Carvey) on Saturday Night Live on one of the MTV specials back during the early part of the 1990s. I'm pretty sure that you can find that sketch as one of the bonus features on the Wayne's World DVD. That song definitely exhibits comedic shades of Spinal Tap meeting Tenacious D.

[Cool]

Hello Calico Jack and LeDaemon -

See? I should have known you two would have this thing nailed. I don't know HOW I missed this. If it is on video anywhere I will absolutely score and secure it post haste!

One thing I didn't mention and that is the scathing lead guitar work on this, by Wayne himself.

Wayne's World! Wayne's World! Party on! EXCELLENT!!!

I tried watching that movie a few months ago after thinking it was sooo funny over a decade ago. Jeeze, didn't make me laugh at all this time around. I guess I just became an old grumpy adult.

I didn't see it the first time around but I often find that when they try to make a full movie out of an incredibly funny skit, it just isn't quite the same. Perhaps that's why I was half-afraid to even watch the movie whtn it came out.
