Most of the girls who asked me, "where you from?" had actually never heard of Los Angeles or California! It's a whole nother world over there.
Spent most of the time about 90 miles south of Bangkok in Pattaya, the largest beach resort in Asia, right on the gulf of Thailand. There's so much action coming at you from every direction, lasers and neon signs all over the place, motor bikes whizzing by, taxis honking, peddlers trying to sell you crap, Indian tailors trying to shake your hand, girls grabbing onto you... thousands of bars, clubs, and go-gos on every corner with scores of hot girls calling out, "Sawadee Ka! Welcome! Oouuiii! Sexy man! Where you go?" Cute chicks standing out front of every joint trying to pull you in. There were also a lot of "ladyboy" trannies that looked just like real women, so you had to be really careful. They drive on the left and there are few rules or sidewalks, lots of low hung power lines and junk to trip over. Going 2 blocks is like traversing 2 kilometers. You'd have to see for yourself to grasp the full extent of it.
Great food. Tons of restaurants and hole in the wall cafes for about $3-5. (30-1 exchange rate) There were also a ton of street vendors selling all kinds of stuff like fried insects, caramelized beetles and scorpions that I definitely wouldn't go for.
The weather is perfect this time of year, warm and sunny, no bugs, not too hot or rainy. High season, but not as many tourists this year because of the floods and global recession. I'd recommend it to anyone who's thought about going.

Asian women are so hot, in general, to me. I just wish that it weren't so incredibly rare that their toenails were shaped the way I like them. I have a pretty wide range of what I'll like, but SO often, Asian women's toenails are just plain fugly to me.

Only bad part though is that in Thai culture, the foot is the lowest part and pointing the foot at someone can be taken as an insult, etc.
When in Thailand, there were some women ok with it, but others had some terrible feet and were not too keen on any foot attention.
Dated a few 'lady Thai'...one woman has the big, beuatiful soles that just hug the earth...shouldn't have let her go
Have seen more sites with Thai feet...so out with the old (culture) and in with the new!

It's true most did not have pedicured nails unfortunately, but I'm more into soles and hot Asian women in general.

Yes, the Thais are Buddhist. There's definitely a lot to turn the other cheek at on the streets too, but most of the girls I met were open to pretty much whatever.

I had a similar experience in Amsterdam a few years back. I spent the weekend there alone and had a ton of foot sessions with some extremely beautiful women in the Red Light district. I was amazed at how beautiful the ladies were.
It was a lot of fun and I have some fine memories from the experience.

Everything is beyond cheap. Thai bahts are like playing with monopoly money. (30-1 exchange rate) It's one of the more affordable places to travel.
I'm 100% positive that all the girls pictured are in fact real ladies.

In one particular misadventure, I took the camera out at night along the beach road and photo'd 5 what I thought were hot girls, but looking at the photos later, 4 out of 5 were actually ladyboys.
They're not as easy to distinguish as you might think, especially in the dark. Among the ex-pats in Thailand, there's a saying, "if it looks too good to be true, it's probably a ladyboy" Here's an example, just for educational purposes. Random stranger, same as I meet most girls. There were tons of cute chicks all over the streets. It was pretty chaotic to be doing photo-shoots in public though, but it was one of my last nights, and I'd become comfortable, or maybe daring enough to be out with the camera at night along beach road looking for some action, as in the above ill fated adventure. After photographing that tall ladyboy in the white nurse outfit, she/he began following me around, which actually turned out to be helpful for translating, because this cutie did not speak a lick of English.
A friend was helping her along when we stopped them, perhaps from a night of drinking at a club. She was so drunk that she nearly fell over the seawall onto the sand while posing. I've been in country for the last couple weeks collecting my girlfriend, who hails from Ayutthaya. Wish I knew you were in town, would've been more than happy to show you around. Though it sure seems like you've got the hang of it We're heading back home soon but this place does grow on you. I've been coming here for the last 16+ years, living in the Kingdom off and on for the last few.
Oh and a note on the Katoeys (ladyboys)... If the "girl" is unusually aggressive and pushy (you'll feel uneasy, trust me) odds are it's a ladyboy. The voice often gives them away as well but you are correct, some are un-real pretty. Also, always be careful around them as they're very skillful pick-pockets. Good SA anywhere in Thailand is a must, as long as you've got that you'll be sure to have a safe & enjoyable time

This is a good question. I'd done quite a bit of reading while planning, but you can never really know what it's going to be like and how you're going to really feel until you get there. I prefer to travel alone because it's easier to meet people that way. You get a truer experience with less distractions, plus the more people you drag around, the harder it is to coordinate.
I figured it would either be crazy fun, or too intense to stay for long, so I booked just 8 days to begin with, then a week in Australia to chill with some friends. Well it turned out to be so much fun that I headed back for another week to cap it off. In hindsight, I would have stayed longer.
At no time did I feel threatened or unsafe. I'm used to walking around the streets of Los Angeles though. Many big American cities are far more dangerous, statistically speaking.
It is quite overwhelming at first though, the sights, the smells, the sensory overload, the jet-lag, being in a foreign country a long... long ways from home, but you get used to it after a few days. Then you start to really enjoy it. It's a whole nother world over there. In many ways there are less rules and more freedoms. Life is more geared towards living in the present moment.
The dollar goes a long way, and they are grateful for your business. All the service industry people from airline stewardesses, to restaurant servers, and hotel staff etc are so polite, greeting you with a smile, "Sawadee ka" (Hello) and a wai.
The only people who speak really fluent English are the ex-patriots. There are tons of westerners who move to to Thailand to retire. It's really cheap, there's good modern medical care, the weather is nice... not to mention the beautiful friendly women. Even an old dog can still get laid. A buddy of mine recently sold his house and packed everything he owned into 6 bags to do just that. He's now happier than he's been in years.
