ive been in a slimp lately; it seems that i dont find any comics interesting anymore. One of the biggest reasons is the price. I bought X-Force #9 the other day for $4 and the story in the issue could be summed up in one sentence. Also, it seems that comic stories are just too far fetched, ya know. I mainly read Marvel and thats because other publishers suck even more. I enjoy Batman but I'm finding out it's a hit and miss as well.

Have you tried any independent companies like Aspen, IDW, etc?

I'm looking throught those publications you mentioned and what I'm seeing looks pretty cool. Any titles you recommend?

I collect quite a few Aspen titles, although they take FOREVER to get new issues out on some of their lines. I collect Fathom, Soulfire, Executive Assistant Iris, Lady Mechanika, and Charismagic.

I will be honest and say I haven't read much of the Soulfire and Fathom (read the original Image series) because I collecting the previous back issues to the older series before I read on. I have read Lady Mechanika and Charismagic from the start.

Another comic I really like is Hack/Slash, which used to be a DDP comic, but has moved over to Image.

I also read the new Lady Death series from Boundless.

Most American comics aren't very appealing to me. I know of graphic novels and less mainstream comics and such, but when most people think of the American comic industry, they think of Marvel and DC, and their heroes who have been around for almost a century.

I find manga to be more interesting.

Manga as an art form is incredibly interesting. As a business, though, especially in this country, it really couldn't get much worse. And a lot of the blame has to fall on VIZ's shoulders.

If the producers had found a way to work with the scanlation "industry" instead of eviscerating it entirely, the medium would be better off, I believe.

Hmm... Manga/Anime just doesn't do anything for me at all. I do have some anime style comic book statues, but they're not over the top.

If you ever get the chance, watch FLCL.

If you're looking for a good story, mangas should be your choice.

There's plenty of WICKED mangas out there, for me, one of the bests is Death Note. Before you die, you should either read it or watch it.

(Saw the anime on youtube, but it looks like it was taken down.)

I didn't care for the art I saw in EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT #1, so never bought any issues in the series; however, I have since heard that the art has improved quite a bit. If that's the case, I may give it a try.
