Have to bump this thread because it simply has to be said.......MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!

Seriously, this game kicks all kinds of ass. It feels so much like old school MK that I was able to just step right back into it after maybe 10 years since the last time I actually played a MK. I never even played the last three solid offerings. No bullshit, it's likely the greatest MK game ever...possibly even better than the fabled MK II.

Kratos is damn cool. Tough to use, but damn cool.

I love the game too. Just beat the story mode last night. I do think Shoa Kahn is a joke though because he just spams the same moves over and over and over the whole match. He got annoying quick.

I do love how you unlock stuff in the Krypt - although I did go online to find the locations of all the stuff I wanted first. LOL... And be sure to stand on all the bug piles you find out there in the Krypt for a few seconds for 5,000 extra koins.

Darth Vader in SC4 (as well as the rest of the Star Wars characters) was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen in gaming. I still can't believe their inclusion was greenlit, when they don't fit in with the SC world at all.

It's greenlighting was a no brainer in that it crossed over and got attention to people who had no idea what Soul Caliber is. And let's be honest, what fighting game really has that great of a storyline? Sure each character has a backstory, but when they come up, they say some of the dumbest crap known to man.

So I take it you hate the idea of Marvel vs. Capcom?

It's true that their inclusion did draw some more attention to the game, just like Link/Heihachi/Spawn did with SC2; in fact, Link in SC2 was the only reason I started paying attention to the series.

But you can't really compare MvC to Star Wars in SC. MvC is a crossover series featuring various characters from Capcom's and Marvel's stable of franchises; odd and unusual characters choices are to be expected. SC is its own world and franchise, and while some guest characters can fit in (Link to an extent, and Kratos in the PSP game), the Star Wars characters just stand out far more than the other guest characters did.

I guess the best part is that come SC5, any mention of the SW characters in SC would have been wiped from the storyline (even though I heard that Darth Vader played a big role in SC4's story; I've played the game several times, but I didn't own it and so never went through the story mode). After all they forgot about Spawn, Heihachi (though he may very well come back, since Namco also owns his franchise), Necrid, Kratos, Lloyd Irving (from Tales of Symphonia; he guest-starred in Soulcalibur Legends), and Link (at least until a proper SC fighter comes to a Nintendo console).

Though as awkward as the SW characters were, I have to give them credit for actually having their own playstyles. The manga artist-designed fighters not only looked out-of-place, but they just copied other characters' playstyles and didn't even have their own "square" on the character select screen. They were wastes of space better reserved for more unique and original characters.

I bought the Gamecube version of the game because I am a huge Zelda fan. I didn't hate it at all. I won't say it is a little odd, but I also see the appeal of it. Now if Capcom would just put the zombie back in Resident Evil... LOL
