Ha ha! That's the John Sterling call on CBS Radio 880 AM--he homered twice today. I'm following the Yanks more now as I customarily do when the Mets fall out of contention in September. (to your Braves once again.) You ever hear the Yanks on the radio? I think Sterling is great. I'm the only Met fan I know who likes his calls.

I don't hear the Yanks on the radio. That's because I think John Sterling is atrocious when it comes to calling the play-by-play. I strongly advise people not to listen to him and Suzyn Waltman who also does Yankee games over the raido in New York (for those who don't know). Not only does this chick not know a bat from a ball, but she's uglier than SIN to boot!!!

I'd much rather listen to Micheal Kay, Al Leiter, John Flaherty on YES.

I hate John Sterling's calls. I hate that "An A-bomb from A-Rod" call.

The worst play-by-play I have heard over the radio was when Mike Francesa and Chris Russo were doing a Met game when they faced the Cardinals several years ago. That was the most unbearable game to listen to. But I couldn't do anything about it because I was at work and the radio belonged to a co-worker who was a Met fan, so he had to listen to it.

Going back to Sterling, I hate it that he hosts Yankeeography. I think he's the most biased person anyone can ever meet.

Michael Kay is the only announcer I could think of that I don't like. I like all of those other Yankee announcers. Mike and the Dog doing a game? I can't even picture that. I don't think I could even discuss that. Who did play by play? Or did they switch every 3 innings like Howie Rose and Wayne Hagin do for the Mets now?

I've become very fond of announcers the older I get. As a kid, more often than not I listened to my walkman during a game, but I certainly appreciated announcers back then too.

I should correct the Granderson call--it's actually 'you're something kinda GrandISH.' It's from a Broadway musical called 'Finian's Rainbow' from 1947. The 'Grandy Man' is the Sammy Davis Jr. song.

Yeah, Mike and the Dog calling a game. I like Francesa and agree with at least 95% of the things he says in his sports radio talk show. But to hear them doing a Met game was torture. Chris Russo did play by play. It was that voice that made it more annoying than anything else. That thick accent really ruined my concentration on what was going on in the game. It really got annoying when Albert Pujols home run. It wasn't the home run that bothered me (any damage to the Mets is a good thing), but the commentary as Pujols was jogging the bases after the home run was hit.

I think they did the whole game. The guy who owns the radio turned it off after a few innings.

I enjoyed listening to Skip Carey when the Braves were on TBS every night. Don Sutton and Pete Van Wieren were also on TBS. Right now, I really enjoy listen to Chip Carey, Ron Darling, Keith Hernandez, and Jon Miller. And, yes, Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.
