I'd say don't think about the past and just be lucky with the present and towards the future. Or question should be do you think the foot fetish existed back then? It's a tough call if it did then some must have really suffered.

I thought the foot binding was done for mere aesthetic purposes not necessarily for sexual purposes? I just had this in a class a few weeks ago.

The calves-reference had nothing to do with matters bovine, rather, the length of her dress.
The men of those times certainly had outlets for their salacious tendencies and, though I might I might envy some kings in history, I'm glad I'm here in this time...I can only imagine what is to come. It might be too much for me.

Apparently men were already worshipping female feet back in old Egypt & India over 5000 years ago. So having a foot fetish is nothing new.
I also agree with Patrick...I´m sure in some warmer countries it may have been heaven to live 100 years ago...with most ladies walking around barefoot.
