I'm guessin it's safe to say that foot fetish whether or not the connotation of the term, is a term that almost everyone is familiar with at least from what I know
Would you say that 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago etc, that this has always been the case

Good question! Certainly, it is more accepted now than it was years ago. I would guess that guys who were attracted to women's feet 30-50 years ago had a harder time gaining acceptance. How did they confess it to their wives/girlfriends? Or did they just hide it?

I think most peopel back then simply hid it, ive heard about alot of couples whom have been together for decades, only to recently heard about their partners fetish, i guess couples like that are from older times when it was harder, so its no suprise

10 years ago, i rarely heard the term.. 15 years ago.. i had to look that up in a book to know what that was all about. 20 years ago, i much rather die than be affiliated with anything that sounded like that!

I read about that also. Syphilis epidemic or something.
Anyway most people I've told still are not familiar with it or don't know the correct meaning of foot fetish. The first time I ever discovered anything about it was through the internet.

I would say in the last five to ten years it has become more well known especially with Quentin Tarantino having the balls to step forward and admit his fetish and express them in his movies. We need more people like him because hey this world has proven that if celebs can do it then it must be ok.... i.e. Murder, DUI's, Drugs, etc.

I think I may have read that in the book "The Sex Life of the Foot and Shoe" in my college library back in the late 80s. Don't recall for sure though.
The term "foot fetish" was fairly known when I was in college. A guy in my dorm used to collect stacks of "LegShow" magazine and a girl friend was hip to it as she used to have her toes sucked by boys when she was in high school. I actually have a picture of she sent me of just that too. I recall a gal in one of my studio drawing classes that liked to barefoot around the studio and her feet would get black from the dirty floors (all that charcoal dust). She would comment that she did it because she thought it was "sexy!" It just gained more awareness since the 90s as everybody jumped on the internet bandwagon and started doing keyword searches for their perverted pleasures!

The farther one goes back in history (especially American history) the less likely one was to discuss their sexual preferences or habits beyond mentioning eye or hair color; though, among men, it was not uncommon to hear someone mention that a certain woman even looked good going away in the late 1800's.
By the mid-late 60's, people were starting to discuss such matters in a limited way. Intimate details were considered T.M.I and bad form. Even with this casting-off of Puritanical constraints, those such as foot fetishists remained pretty silent because they knew what would be regarded as weird; lets face it, it still is - feet look funny (or even downright ugly) and smell bad to most people. I doubt that this perception will change.
For myself, I remain mum to most. I don't tell people that I like feet and I don't tell them that I also get my jollies by tying women up and whipping them then treating them to a "forced orgasm". Betcha the latter half of that statement sounds pretty odd to most here. One can imagine that it would go over like a fart in church to the general populace.
