I've seen this from time to time a woman staring at her own feet for one example yesterday at the traffic lights, a pedestrian blonde MILF while waiting to cross was staring down at her own feet in flip flops. I wonder what's going on in her head when this is going on. Sometimes I stare into space or at an object but the thoughts I'm thinking are totally in another place and not on the particular object. I wonder if this is the same.....but women are from Venus and I may have no idea but just wondering.
I'm hoping more along the lines of "I wonder if people notice my pedi" or "I wonder if my feet stink, maybe I should ask that guy over there " lol.
What do you think?

Mental fidgeting. Although in my experience from long ago, women who did that mostly were open to getting their feet photographed. There was always the one who went all the way the other direction and was appalled by the thought. Probably as you suggest was just thinking, "Ugh, I need to clean them."

As someone else mentioned, my best guest is mental fidgeting. You usually find yourself doing these kinds of things in the midst of waiting for something else.
And when doing so, my guess is that they're likely just seeing what the current state of their feet is in, and if they require any sort of grooming. Clipping nails, pedicure, etc.
Similar to how you may notice that your fingernails should be trimmed soon at a random moment such as waiting for your to go order inside of the fast food restaurant, for instance.

I've never heard the term 'mental fidgeting' before, I like it. I have a fair idea of what it is but giving it a label has brought it more into perspective for me. Thanks

If i can give my female opinion. WHen we look at any part of our body, it is usually to check if they are nice, clean, attractive. And if we do some effort with our shoes / nylons or so, we like it to be noticed. And sometimes, we look at our feet to check if they are as beautiful as we meant them to be.
