It was seventeen percent below expectations and they're bitchin ...sure oil is hitting record highs and toyed with $120 a barrel lately but people are finally cutting back on their driving because for the first time gas consumption is slightly down so that may touch on the fact that they didn't meet their goals...if Exxon keeps bitchin they can raise prices lol....I think OPEC is responsible for pricing....anyhow though here's the link

It would be nice to show those assholes that we have more control over their profits than they think we do. But we can't get enough of the American public to cooperate with each other to make a difference.
For example, if just 25% of American house holds that normally buy gas from say Exxon would switch to another oil company for just one week, it would put such a dent in their profits it would certainly get someones attention. Then the following week target a different oil company as well (boycott 2 of them for a week).HELLO

Alas people are fickle, they'd say hell yeah lets do it! Then as they go to get gas they'd just say "fuck it, I won't make a difference".

Yeah, my heart is REALLY bleeding for those bastards at Exxon/Mobile!
Please explain to me why their profit couldn't have been 10 billion, or 5 billion, giving us a break at the gas pumps!?
Something needs to be done about this. When it comes to oil, there's no such thing as a "free market". Think about it.... If anyone stepped up with the financial recources, they couldn't start a new oil company. They'd be either shut down or the process would be so damned difficult, those starting it would give up. Can you say "cartel"?

I don't use Exxon, I buy Shell. But if people did get together to boycott buying gas from any manufacturer I would take part in it.

The oil business is just that..a business. They are of course upset they didn't make as much as a profit as expected. Same as any other business out there...I am not trying to defend them but think about it...if you were a business owner and you either lost money or didn't make as much money would you be happy? I didn't think so...yes they have made trillions of dollars but they're just reporting their earnings and it being down...if they were only making about 200$ dollars per day and they reported that they only made $150 dollars a day when they expected $200 would people understand/sympathize with them? Or do people just rip on them because they are talking about Millions of dollars?
The oil companies as well as the governments have to come together and comprimise or think of an alternative fuel because if they do not do something quick I'm afraid of the impending war that looms...absurd you think? We have had wars over an asassanation and other trivial events...why not over what every person in the world depends on...Oil.

The oil companies and governments cannot come to a compromise. They are one and the same. How do you think "BIG OIL" got to be what it is? WHY should they "expect" to make billions in profits rather than millions? Is several million not enough of a profit? The CEO's of the major corporations and banks pay them selves millions of dollars per year in salaries. They pay them selves more than they can possibly spend in three life times. Why???? They give each other 20 and 30 million dollar severance packages when they fire one of their kind. You can bet your sweet ass that a war is looming. You can only trample the little guy for so long. I might not see it in my lifetime. But, I guarantee that my children will see a major conflict over this global bullshit.
We've had alternative fuel sources for the past 30 or 40 years. But, those sources have been stifled or repressed by the corporate world. This may upset some people but, reality sucks.

Bush wants full research into the development in hydrogen cell yet the ability to stabilize it and use it is more than a decade away. Makes no sense. Why can't the elctric car be brought back into full production?

Because investors are making huge profits in the skyrocketing price of oil. They can't possibly hope to realize those same profits by investing in any alternative fuel sources or vehicles.

Bush wants you to think he cares by saying he wants "full research into the development of the hydrogen fuel cell." It's all just a political song and dance routine. Same old shit .
