Hi Guys,

I just noticed when I type some letters into the main address bar some sites seem to appear?.Say for example when I type in "w" http://www.wusfeetlinks.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=18 will appear and the same with a few other letters when I type them in?.I usually just delete files or history or something and it clears everything in the address bar that I have been through, but now it doesn't clear?.Could you guys give me some suggestions on what might have caused it or how I could clear it?.

Thanks.

Ghost,

Usually you only have to delete the history. But also try clearing the program's cache file too. That might do the trick. I'm on a MAC, so I can pinpoint you to the area, but on my IE program, it is in the preferences along with the history. I just clear both.

Make sure the auto complete is turned off. Then clean your cache out and restart your browser.

When you turn autocomplete off, it will not keep the urls in the addy bar.

I'm assuming you are using IE..The setting is a little different in Firefox and Mozilla.

Ghost, untick it and click on apply.

Then, click on the "General" tab and click on "delete cookies", next, click on "delete files" and make sure "delete offline content" is checked and then click ok. Next, click "clear history"...also change the number of days to keep pages in history to "0". Click apply and click ok.

 -

Hope this helps.

Also, if you are able to download and install stuff ... you might want to try Window Washer. It's free to try out. It's a great program to have to delete files that the regular cache cleaning process doesn't take care of.

It rocks!

Happy browsing!

Hi Yates, thanks for showing me but,I have done all that and it's still there?.There is one thing though,When I click Clear History I can't click the Apply button for some reason, only OK?.Also,we have seperate folders for each of us here to go into to access the net.We all have porn on our Homepages and she said,it can only happen if someone installs the Homepage but I told her they can change on their own?.I have tried to change my homepage but it reappears each time I reconnect?.Could it be a Virus?.

I'll have a look at Window Washer.

Thanks.

Ghost,

That's your cache I was explaining above.

Make sure you restart your browser and you shouldn't see your url history.

Download window washer to get rid of all the hidden dirt.

if you look on the last shot I posted, on the top it has a url for your homepage. Go to what ever page you want as your homepage, go back in internet options and click the "use current" button, then click "apply", "ok" what ever that isn't greyed
out.

If you don't have them already then get em.
Ad-Aware and Spybot. They are free.

Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and use it on a regular basis. If you don't have one then get one! A good free one is AVG.

Make sure you scan your comp first before downloading and installing AVG or any other brand, if you decide to go that route. Go here for a free scan.

Ghost, there are lots of resources on the net you should check out on safe computing.

Do a google search. You'll learn a lot.

p.s. save some dough and buy yourself a computer.

Sounds like Spyware. There's a very malicious type called "CoolWWWsearch". It switches your web browser main page to things you don't want.

Ghost,
You need to scan your system for virues and spyware.

Use the links I gave you above.

While you're at it make sure you go to windows update and download any updates for your computer.
