Also, I see them with laptops, and constantly staring at the screen. What's that about? Even the old school great pioneer, Jazzy Jeff uses them to do his thing.
No aqua records in this video, but he is definitely eyeing his laptop.

They're not real vinyls, the sound you are hearing is not coming from those vinyls. although the record decks are real. the DJ is using something called Traktor, its a controller surface for some software in the computer, the 'records' see are just there so the DJ can do the same things they can on a real set of records.

Yeah if you played one of these vinyl discs on a normal turntable, all you'd hear is a high pitched ringing sound. They just control the mp3 track that's running from your laptop or PC/mac as if they were playing from from the vinyl disc. Saves changing records.
When I first played with one back around 2009-10 on a friend of mines decks, I thought it was genius it blew my mind coz I had a DJ-ing phase back in my teens an it was a "pain in the ass" lugging around crates of records and keeping them in a certain order so you know where everything was, putting bpm(beats per minute) stickers on them .
It's so easy to be a DJ now with technology the way it is ever so advancing at a rapid rate. From my teens til now, thinking from now til the next time-frame, wonder what the future holds in this industry.
