So I pick one up from EBay for $12 which arrived yesterday. Your smartphone fits snugly into the housing. Downloaded a few apps and this thing is freaking awesome. Unfortunately my phone doesn't have a gyro sensor so I can't fully immerse myself into a virtual reality world although my son's Galaxy S4 has one and I used his on a 'Google Cardboard' app and I can see the potential of future virtual entertainment. Cool stuff.
Back to my phone. I can still get the benefits of watching 3D videos on YouTube like the roller coaster videos, flight simulators, 3D nature/sea vids which 3D effects are amazing. https://youtu.be/ppL8SrHq9VM

Took it to work for a little show&tell. A couple workmates with gyroscopic phones brought up a couple YouTube 360° videos (which seemed to be fadding) blew me away viewed through the headset. It's like you're actually there

Smh, had an initial problem with the ASUS ZenFone 2 550ML, the gyro sensor wasn't working so sent it back to KOGAN who gave me credit and purchased the internally superior 551ML with a working gyro "HOORAY"
Apps are really good with minor setbacks but I can only see it improving. Went skydiving, base jumping, swimming with sharks, watching 360 nature videos, pretty freakin awesome I'm waiting to see my first 360 foot video
Cinema with awesome menu set up. I can watch my saved videos at whatever screensize I want. Together with noise cancellation earphones, a giant step closer to the atmosphere. Be at a concert, sporting event is what I see in the foreseeable future
