we really do have 4 seasons and winter is just 1 of them. Generally, Climate in Canada is comparable to New York.

Climate in Canada is comparable to New York?! LOL You must be in T.O. eh? Take a rip west, hell, even eastern Canada and you'll find that the weather is not like NYC, at all.

Maybe he meant BUFFALO, New York, heh, heh - But seriously, weather here in NYC is much more temperate than in Canada, 'cause we're obviously farther South and surrounded by water. Like Canada, we do have four seasons though, which is not necessarily the case in a lot of the U.S.
The major cities that people live in or around are comparable to new york. I don't include northern territories. I remember a few new york winter storms that were much worse than Toronto's and I said damn thank goodness it didnt snow like that here. Pittsburgh Washington Detroit New York Buffalo all have comparable temperatures. Snowfall is another matter, but even today you can google to see its only a bit less sometimes marginal.
To educate Americans is tough though I dont want to put in too much effort here

I hate that people automatically think of new york city when someone says new york. The state is pretty big ;P
