So it's the time of year that I have to spend a week, or even two, walking around the alleys of the park and in front of the library before I see ANYthing. And if the weather trend as I write this is any indication, the year's shooting will be wrapping up pretty soon ... until Spring of 2017. :-(
It took me over a week of that sort of patrolling around before I got this. But then I got it! Up at the top of the library terrace, where people frequently sit for lunch now that there are kiosks all over the park, I saw a little pair of feet perched up, and a white blouse. It was a warm day and it was around lunch so there were a lot of people there, but fortunately up at the top of this terrace there's an area with these continually raised levels which are like steps, and I was able to sit below her, at the edge of one of the levels. She was a little Korean girl, and she's got to be some sort of big time science or math nerd, because how can I put this -- what a character! She was dressed for office work but she had the loopiest facial expressions, pretty much non-stop duck-lips when she read her phone, and frequently she would just have this wide eyed look -- she would look at her phone, her eyes would go wide, and her eyebrows would arch way up -- like she was startled by some new math problem or something! Also my GOD those glasses! -- ULTRA-nerd, not "nerd-chic;" those glasses scream that she comes about her nerdiness 100% honestly, not as a nerd poseur. But we have to give her one thing, she's cute, with a pretty face, and she did have her hair tinted (but that's almost "standard issue" for Asian girls these days). She was working on an older smartphone, a Samsung I guess. She had a pair of very high-heeled business pumps off and her bare feet up on the chair, and they were really cute to see -- wide little babes. At first I thought her feet were really tiny, because she was little and her feet looked little too, but later I learned she's a size 6.5. Wide feet often look smaller than they are.
So I sit down to shoot and she immediately sees me and the camera, but she just continued to do her texting or web-surfing or work or whatever the hell she was doing on her phone as I shot about nineteen minutes of footage of her. At first she had one foot behind the other, but then she brought both soles out for a nice display (I noticed then that she had some peeling on one of her heels, but it's not that big a deal). After a while she suddenly began flexing and wriggling those little feet around nicely. She made a call and I could just barely make out what she was saying -- I mean, I didn't understand it, but I knew for a fact it wasn't Japanese, and I'm almost as sure it wasn't Chinese, so I'm assuming it was Korean. I'm guessing she's Korean from Korea as opposed to Korean-American because Korean-American girls are usually pretty integrated and this girl didn't seem that way at all. Then she went back to her phone, her loopy facial expressions, and her little foot wriggling. A one point she seems to have furtively taken my picture with her phone, but she seemed so nervous about it I thought she was going to turn to stone! It's ok girl, I'm filming you, so turnabout is fair play.
Eventually, being a nerd, she dropped her phone, launching it about four feet away from where she was sitting! lol When she bent over to get it, she stuck her feet back in her shoes when she put her legs down to retrieve it, I guess so as not to get her feet dirty. So I stopped shooting, but then, before my camera was even back in my bag, the feet went back up on the chair, and I saw that her feet were just loosely stuck back in her shoes. So I shot another minute or so as she wiggled her half-on, half-off shoes around on her feet. I zoomed in on what seemed to be a shoe size .. and for once it actually was! Size 6 1/2. Cute though this was, shoes are no substitute for soles, so I wrapped it up.
What I like about this fidgety oddball of a pretty little thing is she seemed to be sort of turned on by my shooting but was too nerdy to give a sultry sole show like another girl might, she she just sort of twitched, peeked, and wiggled her feet around! I had the feeling from the way she was doing it that the shoe wiggle at the end was her way of saying "come hither." Ha ha, you'll laugh when you think about that and see her doing it, with her duck-lips!
