Just the other day, I overheard one of my co-workers make a negative reference to her large feet. Why is it, so many women are embarrassed by their own feet? (Particularly, the bigger ones?) Depending on your shoe size, this topic of conversation is literally taboo for some. Ladies, I know this rule doesn't apply to everyone. The women I know are proud of their big feet! Far as I'm concerned it's simply more to love, isn't it? I can only imagine the frustration involved, when u can't find a shoe in YOUR SIZE. That's only one, small part of it. I'm talking about those few who have a genuine dislike of their own body parts. Cultures of the Far East take it to extremes! Even as a child, I often asked myself:
"Why do Cinderella's evil step-sisters have the big, unattractive feet?"
Is that entirely accurate? I also believe our society tends to associate big feet, with ugly feet. The two don't necessarily go hand in hand. What are your thoughts?

I'd say the stepsisters have nicer feet than Cinderella, considering Cinderella doesn't seem to have any toes.

Most people are unaware of the fact that the story of "Cinderella" originated in Asia where (especially at the time) small feet were considered a mark of femnine beauty. The story has changed through the years as various cultures have adapted and passed along their own version of the tale, and one of the things that stuck when America did so was the protagonist's tiny tootsies.

AGREE. Long, slender and thin feet are just sexier, to me, than any other type of feet.
It seems that women are never happy with the way they look. my wife for example, 25 years ago, when we were just dating, she thought her feet are ugly, she wouldn't be cut wearing opened toe shoes. then i came along. fastfoward twenty and she can't stop showing her feet, and using them during sex.

Not sure. Maybe because feet are seen as primarily dirty and undesirable in general. And therefore because women are more concerned with appearance, they are EXTRA conscious of their feet. Almost to the point where they seem to almost think they shouldn't even HAVE feet.

I like women feet that are big wide, but I have seem sexy women feet of all sizing and ugly feet in all sizing too. But, women with big feet to me show a lot of wrinkles on their soles. Because, I am a wrinkled soles lover!

From a woman's perspective, in this culture unless you're talking about boobs, big = unattractive. You could be talking about bums, feet, ankles, hands, tummys, foreheads anything.
From talking to my friends about this subject in particular, there is also a stigma that big feet (like big hands) are also somewhat masculine. If only i could point them to Wus haha.
Finding shoes is also a hassle for women with larger feet. Again from friends experiences, when shopping for graduation shoes at least two of them had to order shoes from interstate.

I think that what Athena said is right on: Big hands or big feet = masculine. Smaller feet tend to be associated with women. As a result, if a woman has big feet, then she doesn't fit society's "norm" of having feminine/smaller feet and she feels embarrassed by them. What they don't realize is that bigger feet doesn't necessarily mean ugly feet. Bigger feet can be pretty too.

I used to by items off of ebanned before it was taken over by people who want to make a quick buck. I was always buying socks off of there, and the ladies who had the bigger feet always had the best socks to smell. Towards the end of me being on the site I was only buying socks from ladies with size 9 or higher feet just because the smell was alot different and better. For a smelly foot lover like me that was great but I can also see where it could be embarasing to some.

When I was younger, I equated big feet with ugly feet...There was a time when I wouldn't even date a woman who wore over a 7.5...As I got older size didn't mater as much to me. THEY DO NEED TO BE HEIGHT/FOOT SIZE PROPORTIONATE!..Im not a big foot fan though.I never even knew that there were guys who liked BIG FEET until I joined Wu's...My little Wifey is 5ft 1 and she wears a 7-7.5...Perfect for me...I guess there is somebody for everybody...
