Maybe so, but Athena and I went to a thing about Da Vinchi in the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry - there is a HUGE history behind the painting that is really interesting - for one, you may say it's over-rated, but you haven't actually seen how it looked originally before it was all sun-stained and stuff...

Indeed. It is with good reason that this is widely regarded as a masterpiece and is probably the best known painting in the world. The Mona Lisa is just one example of the genius of the artist, Leonardo da Vinci -- a true renaissance man, with a small "r" as well as a capital one, a voice of reason and inquiry, the kind sorely lacking in a present-day world whose public discourse is increasingly and dangerously dominated by the hysterical rantings of the angry philistine.
